Re: Bull Bars Under Threat
A mate of mine hit a wallaby with is Falcon ute a few years back , he was between Brisbane and Logan City , early morning , a leafy area but still densely populated and not a area generally thought of by most people as a area to be aware of roos or wallabies , although he found out later they get a ...

Re: Four New ones
Tony thank you What is it with you 'bow making blokes' in Qld though that makes you so submissive towards the finer of the species. Is it because you're in touch with your creative side that you're all a bit softer Not at all sure what that means , my wife reckons that I'm a stubborn pig headed Nean...

Thanks Jeff , don't have any full draw pics , using the timer on my camera would entail reading the instructions and being male I'm pretty sure that is actually illegal here in Queensland

Four New ones
Four New ones Rod generally tells me that I should post pictures of my bows as it keeps the interest in bowmaking up but I tend to be rather slack with it , my wife works from home most days and doesn't like me in the office when she is working and just after lunch is the time I find most convenient...

Re: Bull Bars Under Threat
There is always a wanker element in pretty much every facet of modern life , hell I personally think that going back to stone age times there most certainly would have been a element that felt the need to have a bigger club than others and I really don't think they can be eliminated with out making ...

Re: Bull Bars Under Threat
When I used to live at Clermont I had over 30 bad roo strikes in 10 years , that is the hard solid hits and not counting the glancing blows but there wasn't any real problem for me because I had a bull bar , before that I used to live at Beachmere on the coast and just outside Brisbane , my car didn...

Re: Trying hard to give up the smokes...open to suggestions
I gave up around 23 years ago , When I worked as a mechanic I smoked about 30 to 40 a day , when I went to driving a fuel truck I cut down to about 20 a day but when I stoped driving fuel went back to 30 a day , Around the time I was 30 I managed to catch Q Fever , glandular fever , Ross river fever...

G'day Stuart
Where abouts in central Qld are you ?
There may be one of us near by who can help you in person , that is a whole lot easier than trying to explain building a bow in words

Re: No one with half a brain would vote Greens would they ?
Personally I consider a a proportional voting system fought with danger while we have a compulsory voting system in place , too many people just don't think about who or what they are voting for , I really do think most Australians don't have any respect for their politicians at all and many of the ...

Re: Tree ID Help, and I think you gents are the people to ask!
Kelly No , it was a twisted up bit of Bloodwood , no good for a bow , went well under the leg of lamb on the spit though I mainly make Laminated longbows but I do have some Black wattle and some Red Ash on my place that I intend to turn into self bows and some reasonably seasoned Iron Bark that I wa...

Kelly No problem , good idea , always get some other silly bugger to do the hard work if you can I'm a little touchy about dead branches at the moment , had one come down on me about 3 to 4 months back , had my head down , it got me in the back of my hard hat , hit hard enough to crack my hard hat a...

Get some one else to cut it , preferably some one you won't miss , those dead branches tend to snap off when your cutting the trunk , we call them widow makers

I know some of the guys here get staves sent from the US but when the mate looked into sending me some staves he was told no , not under any circumstance , but there must be some way to satisfy customs of the other fellows wouldn't be getting their staves but you would have to talk to them , not sur...

Re: Osage Orange seeds
Sending seeds into Australia is a good way to get on the bad side of Australian customs , they just won't let them through , big trouble
Mate in Kansas wanted to send me some a few years back but when he checked it out found he could get into lots of trouble
