US travel restrictions on luggage

I am going to the US in a couple of days and thought I would check the go on transporting my new barbarian over there with me. " find it hard to be away from it too long :( " and found that the maximum length or luggage is now 62 inches. :( :( quoted from the qantas web site International^...

very nice cody, I have a b riser custom kodiak 1972 with white night limbs and the original 60 lb@28" limbs and love it. If you can get a right hand riser you will see how wonderful these bows really are. I love mine and would not part with it for any money. There was a 1970's bear custom kodia...

Re: Bowyer / Bowmaker - Whats the differance?

Interesting concept. Indenture is a thing of the past. I was indentured in 1981 in one of the last intakes as an electrical mechanic. After this the apprenticeships where taken on by trade schools and training companies. Today the idea that an apprenticeship guarantees competency is fading. My fathe...

Hello all, Very interesting to see different opinions on this subject. Love this subject and the varied comments and passion that comes from it! Fascination raises some very good points on the way the brain and nervous system works. But, "sorry there is always a but  " The definition...

Re: Radiused shelves vs Square Shelves

True enough Steve. The grain in an important element that must be considered. If you think of the grain of the arrow as offering a hinge to the arrow during release, the hinge should be parallel to the bow, allowing the arrow to pivot around the bow as it bends. That means that the arrow should be s...

hello there fellows I started shooting cock feather in about 18 months ago and found that I was getting better flight and more consistent groups but since getting a proper set of arrows have found that it does not matter at all. in or out they fly the same. I also had to opportunity to have a high s...

Hate barking dogs Hate their stupid owners more. Big Problem crappy solutions. The law is an ass on this subject. My immediate reaction in these situations is to lash out at the dog but being married with kids leads me to be more responsible than my instincts prefer. Every fiber of my being tells me...

Re: my setup.. is it ok?

True enough, But taking into consideration this animal is killing it's prey in a manner that to the dog, is the best way it can. There is no benefit to a predator to have an injured animal on it's hands. Short of training of their young. I know from experience (unfortunately) that a critical injury ...

Hi there Greenhorn. Are you a member of a club? The best thing is getting some one on one time with an experienced person that uses a similar setup to yours. I would be talking to the likes of Gavin "whitehawk" in terms of gear setup and when it comes to form issues, you can post small vid...

Very impressive Graham!
You have definitely inspired me to have a go at building a bow.

I need to get a band saw and a drum sander. Any brand suggestions? Size, horsepower etc?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with you terry. Stupidity will prevail. No number of rules or regulations can protect us from stupidity. Only education has a chance. If you are really looking to build up your strength to pull heavy poundage bows. Can I suggest that you get a warbow. These puppies go all the way up to 160lb+ with the most common being around 110lb. Reasonably cheap and will shoot 1000+ grain arrows all day. You can contact Gavin from Wildwood arc...

Re: Center Cut Longbows

i shot with roadie on the weekend and he was using an ELB and the arrows where coming out beautifully. Having center cut on a longbow is not necessary to get good arrow flight as the archer paradox takes away any benefit of center shot, like what is typical of compound bows shot with a release aid. ...

Heres another opinion, Like we need another one :) The bowyer who made your bow or one who makes similar bows are the experts on what arrow is best used with their bow. Once the correct weight and spine are established the bow will give the best balance between transfered and retained energy. The bo...
