Re: Flatline Raptor for sale - mint condition - $450
For just an extra $50 I will throw in, an as new Bear recurve bow case. These cases cost nearly $200 to buy new. They're beautifully made with a tough canvas like exterior, while the interior has a luxurious soft long pile finish, with a full length zip. It's designed for 58 inch recurves, so the Ra...

Re: Who consciously uses back tension to improve their accur
Yes Paul, there's always something you forget to do. Just the other day I found that some of my shots were going a bit to the left. It took me a while before I discovered that, although I was doing everything else all right, my release wasn't good, in that I was sometimes not coming to a good solid ...

Re: ILF bows?
Thanks for the tips Lyonel. As I only have a relatively short draw at 28 inches I thought I would be better off with short limbs and to get the overall length bow that I want for stability I thought a 25 inch riser might be best. This would give me an overall length of around 66 inches, I think, whi...

There's some good photos there. Thanks to the people who found the time to take them and to post them. It looks like it would have been an excellent shoot.

Re: Allowances for Bare shafting
I've got no way of measuring it Matt, but seeing as my draw length is 28 inches, I'd say it would be 45#, the same as what the bow's specs are. As a matter of interest, I went out to the club range today and my old 3555s shot really well over a variety of distances. There can't be too much wrong wit...

Re: Allowances for Bare shafting
I'm on the verge of having to go the opposite way Matt. My 35-55 GTs bare shafted beautifully with my 45# Whip when cut to almost exactly to 28 inches. This allowed about an inch of overhang at the front of my bow when at full draw. Now that I've been including back tension as an everyday part of my...

Re: Allowances for Bare shafting
Am I reading that right Matt, 15-35 GTs for a 53# bow? They're gunna be short arrows.
Have you started to bare shaft them yet? If so, how did they go?

Re: Flatline Raptor for sale - mint condition - $450
You can't win 'em all Grant. Are you going to be at the Bendigo trad shoot? I plan to be there. It's less than 2 months away. I just want to stress one thing about this bow. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. On the contrary, it's probably the fastest bow I've owned for its draw weight. It ou...

Flatline Raptor for sale - mint condition - SOLD
I've only owned this great bow for a few months. It's a very fast bow that shoots as well as it looks. It has a red tulip oak riser and limbs, bamboo cores and ash fades. It has a draw weight of 41# @ 28 inches and it's a right handed bow. It doesn't have any marks or scratches on it. There is a sli...

Re: ILF bows?
Hi Paul. I did a bit of reading up about barebow shooting. I now understand why there's a need to add weight to the lower part of the riser. It's to make the bow tip forwards at the top when it is released. This reaction to the shot ensures the arrow rest will be dropping away from the arrow and as ...

Re: ILF bows?
Hi dartonian. I suppose what got me interested in ILF bows wasn't even an ILF bow. One of the guys at my club bought himself a Border Covert Hunter with the Hex 6.5H limbs on it. I loved the limbs and I loved the way they performed, but I didn't particularly like the riser. I knew that Border made t...

Re: ILF bows?
After you play around with your new bow you may want to keep an eye out for a cheap left hand riser. I'm left eye dominant and have chronic TP. Suffered for 7 years on the right side. It disappears on the left side. Also helps in evening up the muscles when you swap back and forth. A bit like learn...

Re: Who consciously uses back tension to improve their accur
There are many situations when hunting, when you have all the time in the world to make the shot. This is when I will do everything within my ability to make the shot the very best it can be. I adopt my normal sequence procedure/mantra, which includes foot placement, shoulder alignment, slightly ben...

Re: Who consciously uses back tension to improve their accur
Hi Scuzz. I suppose I was talking about situations where you have to shoot in a split second, or where you might not have the time or the ability to align your feet properly, or where you might not even have the time to come to a full draw. I must admit, I've never tried to use back tension in these...

Re: Who consciously uses back tension to improve their accur
Just to summarise this thread. It appears that only a very small proportion of our members use back tension as a part of their everyday form. I think I know the reasons for this. I'd say that most trad archers would regard this technique as being more for target archers, as opposed to 3D shooting an...

Just going through some of these old posts. Lots of memories here. Lots of well known names that have dropped off the radar in the intervening years. I don't know why I haven't posted on this thread. I was there, along with my daughter. I found an old photo, courtesy of Terry Frankson of the Lilydal...

Re: ILF bows?
Thanks for the response motty. We appear to have reached similar conclusions when it comes to ILF bows. You mentioned that you didn't like the short limbs you had. Out of curiosity, why was that? I'm guessing it was something like finger pinch. This is why I will go for a longer riser. I don't reall...

Got my Ozbow shirt in the mail today. I like it. I can't fault the quality and it's a great fit. It's just a pity that I'll now have to wait another 6 months, or more, before it's going to be warm enough again to wear it.

ILF bows?
I'm seriously thinking that my next bow will be an ILF. Even though I realise that ILF bows aren't accepted at most trad events, I think I'd get enough use out of one by using it to indulge in my other archery pursuits, such as general club shooting and hunting. I could possibly still use an ILF bow...
