Re: Mini bow build off?

I used cotton for the string on the little bow. The arrows are made for tooth picks fletched with galah feathers, thanks to my pet. The 18" bow had one lam that was tapered. The fibre glass was G10 which used for insulation in the electrical trade, I work with electric motors so I got some scra...

Re: My Neddle Work

Yea no. My grandmother tried teaching me sawing with no real luck. I'm not that neat. I got board around the fire at the HVTA charity shoot so I made a few lower limb string keepers so I thought I would have a go at a glove. The test will be on the weekend when I use it at the club. But thanks...

My Neddle Work

Hi all I have been a bit board while on holidays so I have been doing some needle work, as my wife put it. It is a bit rough but that makes it traditional right? DSC_0222.JPG I have to put a couple of studs on it yet DSC_0223.JPG DSC_0224.JPG Put some leather dressing, mutton fat just to keep it tra...

Thanks to Wide bay Archers

I'm up here visiting the olds in Hervey Bay and went and had a shoot at Wide Bay Archers, Thankfully they a few spare curves for us to shoot, bad for the health those wheelie bows, and some arrows. Had a great time doing a ABA course and did not shoot to bad with gear that is not known to you. So a ...

Re: Thoughts for a bow for my Daughter

Daryl I think you have told me that is how you do it once before. Yes Rod I was taking to thickness at 21" from the butt. I can't work out how the two methods can give me a different end poundage. I have only been using the RCT method and the 3 bows that I have made have worked out close to wha...

Re: Thoughts for a bow for my Daughter

Daryl I was using the RCT method, I think.
The thickness of the lams at 21" x 2 divide by 10. What I was told if using 40 thou glass subtract 28#, dose that sound right?

Thoughts for a bow for my Daughter

Hi all, I thought I would ask my experienced bowyers a question. I am going to make my 16 year old a new longbow, so I can get my bow back. I have 2 thoughts, 40 thou glass 4 0.080" 1 thou tappers 2 bamboo 2 merbau and a 120 thou parallel lam 68" 18" riser. the other 50 thou glass 2 0...

Re: Mongol bow

I have a Mongolian bow and I love it but if you can find one get a Korean horse bow. They are shorter lighter in mass weight and a bit faster. I have a 50# Wind Fighter that I got off John McDonald AMSO128 a few years back and it a great little bow, good to hunt with too.

Re: "Gathering" 2015

1 arrow per target. Distance varies for each target. Wood arrows only, except for little kids I think. There is a running pig, bow bird (so bring flu flus if you have them),speed range, the hunt, rolling disc and a broad head range, as well as the 3D ranges.
Hope that helps.

Re: Advice for the young and stupid (me) for the Hunter Vall

Hi Bjorn, you are in for some fun, bring some arrows that you don't mind getting broken. If you are over 16yr bring a few broadheads for the broadhead range, some wet weather gear (that you will not need as we have had enough rain to do us) 5 fluflu's and some spending money. That's about it ho and ...

Re: Powder horns

They are very nice.
They look better than the one I have which is a plastic bottle with a measure fitting fitted to the lid and a brass one.
I think the black powder gun/rifle is the traditional or shooting.
