Re: What do we think (and play nicely)
Can some one please enlighten me why a Bankrupt person (Adult) can not give permission for a minor to go hunting. What am I not seeing here. Cheers Roadie. I imagine it is about the capacity for a parent to take financial as well as moral responsibility for their child's actions while hunting under...

What law prohibits a minor from carrying a knife hunting?longbowinfected wrote: On one hand minors cannot posses knives in public yet other legislation might see them in public by themselves with a gun or bow, yet if hunting they would need a knife....in my opinion.

That isn't the point though when we are dealing with the rabid animal liberationists. They see the problem with us as US and are just against humans interacting with animals. Re: Possible update:The Game and Feral Animal Control Regula
The Greens really are populated by idiots aren't they. Mr Shoebridge says the Game Council is a partisan body and should not be setting the rules. They don't, never have, they write reports and recommendations and Parliament makes the laws. Can't let the facts get in the way of your propagand...

Here in Canberra we see plenty of hunting in the papers, and it seems to be well received by the wider public.rmcpb wrote:The trouble is that no matter how well we put our case the emotive, PC "arguments" presented in the article get the air time not the rational arguments.

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...
Mick, This may come as a bit of a surprise to you (and Troy above), but you and I are on pretty much the same page here. We hunters can be just as irrational in our defence of our pursuit as the AL people can be in theirs. One thing about many/most of them (and I have had many head to head debates ...

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...
The use of poison baits is far more indiscriminate and crueler than any control measure and these people sanction these control measures which kill important native species and do not make use of resources which could be better managed. The Animal Liberation position on feral animals is that we sho...

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...
The effort required to parse her paper to death is beyond my energy ATM but I have one thing to say in defence of hunting. All too often I see people seperate out the various parts of hunting and attack each part from the perspective drawn from another part. When a hunter says "I hunt for food&...

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...
A critical reader may (not unreasonably) agree that causing pain and/or death for pleasure is abhorrant but question the value of a statement that "( Note that I do not use the term ‘sport hunting’. While there may be an element of physical prowess involved in hunting, )...hunting lacks an ess...

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...
In many respects the article did not contain argument, but a series of assertions or propositions, with the references cited being of only one type - or indeed ones previously published by the writer. This is how I saw the article too, just an opinion piece with some cherry picks references to atte...

Great stuff Tom.
I used to do a lot of B&W and I still have all the gear stored in boxes here. It would be nice to have a darkroom again.

It is a good thing he was captured alive, now maybe there is a chance the parents of that missing girl might learn what happened to her.

Why the snide backhander Morton. Could it be that you can't see that I wrote two paragraphs, the first in response to your post, the second an entirely rhetorical musing on my part with no reference to you or what you wrote what so ever? I was going on what Commissioner Scipioni said on T.V., and he...

His survival skills are second to none, obviously. I don't believe they are better than the average squatter. Reports in the Canberra Times today claim he was living in peoples weekenders during the week days and just living rough on weekends (or when genuinely on the run I suppose). He had a netwo...

Re: 3 things I hate the smell of
Totally agree on the respirator. If you can smell the antler there is all sorts of organics getting in to your lungs. An allergic reaction could result, or much worse a case of Q Fever (antler has plenty of urine sprayed on it during the rut).
