Rod
Thanks , just waiting to try it out , thinking of going fishing and crabbing in it next week down Sandy creek , crabs still seem to be on , was down the Sandy straights on the weekend , had to deliver a bow to a mate and do a little crabbing , we got our limit no problem

Re: Numb fingers

I used to shoot heavy bows [ 70-80# ] and never had a problem for about 25 years , had extremely thick calluses on my fingers , buggered my shoulder bad and couldn't shoot for a year or so and then started back with out the calluses , with in a month I was getting the numbness you describe , it is n...

Rod

Don't need a cabin , although I do often think of building a houseboat

But do have to admit that my wife wants me to put in padded folding boat seats

Jeff

How many clamps ? don't know for sure , but how ever many I have it's not near enough , really do need to get a lot more

Re: Ozark Float boat build-along

Well all the coats of epoxy have been finished , I've started putting in a bit of framing to hold the deck and the seats , if I'd gone to 9mm ply instead of the 4mm stuff I'm using I could have got away with less framing but it will still work out light http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w10/dawalla...

The plans come from http://www.boatplans.dk/boat_plans.asp?id=34 , my particular set come from a mate in the USA who bought a set and never got around to making it and so sent it to me so that he could see one built

Well I turned it over to fiberglass the inside , first up was to cut the glass to size and lay it in place ready to epoxy http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w10/dawallace45/P1000438.jpg A closer view of the glass in place http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w10/dawallace45/P1000439.jpg Glassing finis...

Re: gas bottles and soap

Rod Soap may be a alien smell but it's not strong , most men sweat when they hunt and that is a extremely strong smell , especially if they haven't used soap in a few days , man smell is the smell of a predator and most beasties know it means danger , I wouldn't hunt any where near the mate because ...

Re: gas bottles and soap

I just use a plain unscented soap or a antibacterial soap , I used to hunt with a guy who figured that not using soap would give him a edge when hunting but the human smell is the smell of a predictor and not using soap tends to make the smell even stronger , I figured it was very counter productive...

Yup , more like a walrus , but if it's any consolation to you back before I got broken I weighed in at 92 kg and could bench press 120 kg , now of course I can barely bench press 30 kg before my left shoulder folds up

It's 15'9" long , 35" wide and 13" high , built to the plans with 9mm ply it should come in at about 41 KG , mine should be much lighter , should draw about 4" with two men on board [ 200 kg ]

Ozark Float boat build-along

On another post I said I'd post the progress of the Ozark float boat , I haven't done that so far so I'd better start , didn't know where on Ozbow to post it but seeing as how Boat building is a traditional craft I figure I'll post it here unless Jeff has a problem with it Well the Float boat has be...

Re: Some new bows

Steve The boat was originally about 100 Kg when I first built it but a year or so ago I added the rear deck and extended the front deck so there is the extra weight of a sheet and a half of 12mm ply and about 6 pine studs , don't really know for sure what that would weigh but would take a guess at a...

Re: Some new bows

Otis

yeah two different bows , the top one is all parallels and the bottom one has one taper , strangely enough when I mounted both them in a jig and pulled both strings at once there appeared to be very little difference in their bending curve ,
