Re: free feathers

Yep, they love en. Bit like rawhide maybe?

Mine prefers duck, while still on the neighbors bird.

But we shan't speak anymore of that unfortunate incident.

Re: Silver Arrow??

Polished stainless steel tube? Then fletch to your taste. Or even polished and laquered aluminium, maybe anodised to harden first? If its only for decorative purposes, I would polish an ali shaft, would take minimal effort (or look up metal polishers in your area of operations) With a good coat of c...

Re: Some plain Jaines UPDATED again Feb/ 2012.

They all look fantastic. I would be afraid to shoot em! (Probably more an indication of my talents than anything else )

Looking at the spliced fletching makes me think it takes a swag of time and a steady hand.

Top effort.

Re: How common are runaway diesels?

In a former incarnation as an apprentice diesel mechanic for Caterpillar, we had a set of plywood "clappers" in the dyno rooms for just such an emergency. Never had a runaway in the 4 years I was there but they had happened. The phonebook had been used previously, causing the shredding of ...

Re: Anyone using MUd-MAP App for iphone?

No experience with the app, but I believe the stand alone gps is less than stellar.
Battery life is also a major issue when running the gps on a mobile phone, so make sure you do some research.
Whirlpool.com is another trusted forum for all mobile info.

Re: reserving a bow string

I would think a nominal fee would be more than acceptable.

As said, something like $10 for a trad should be seen as cheap given the time involved in re-serving a string.

Maybe more for a wheelie bow, but I'll leave that to those what know about such things.

Re: Cheap bow to start trad journey

My second bow is a "ChekMate" recurve made in Canada (I only have 2 bows so far :( ) From what a few guys at the club have said, and my experience with the bow I have, these things are awesome for the price. Workmanship is good, and they shoot great. Got mine from G+M Archery in the states...

Re: West Oz Stuff

Hey ConMan..... I am not aware of any Trad specific events in WA (Not that it means much....) I can tell you that a bunch of us out at the WA Field and Bowhunters Club are Trad Fans, and do our best to keep the wheeled component of the club on their toes. There is no real segregation of bo...

+1 on WAFBC. I haven't been able to make it out there for a bit due to various reasons, but the members are a great bunch.
The courses are not too shabby either.

Re: A sick, sick society

As a parent, crap like this makes my blood boil. I bring my kids up to know right from wrong and respect other people etc. We dont even kill bugs at home if it's feasable to catch em and stick em outside. (Redbacks are an exception) The hardest thing for me is trying to explain this crap to my kids,...

Those last pics look very much like she-oak to me.

I wouldn't have rated that as a particularly good bow wood myself (of limited experience I might add)

If it is any good, I may have access to more stock than I tought!

Just got myself a Chek-Mate Falcon recurve. Made in Canada. $265 US and about $50 Shipping.

Damn fine bow, and for the price it beats a samick hands down!

try gmarchery or recurves.com

Hope you can find something suitable.

Been looking for suppliers myself. Got the theory down pat, just looking for some timber to
play with. Will be keen to hear what you come up with as options seem to get less the more I look!
