Re: Recurve, Longbow, Deflex/ Reflex bow nomenclature.
Hybrid in archery is not used in it's literal meaning, same as "instinctive" isn't, remember that one. It is used to describe a bow that has both longbow and recurve characteristics within it's design, same as a Hybrid car runs on petrol and electricity. Best of both worlds just like...

Re: Recurve, Longbow, Deflex/ Reflex bow nomenclature.
That would be a Cari-bow wolverine with the Diamond series riser. Manufacturer calls it a longbow and they make awesome bows and really know their stuff.

Re: Recurve, Longbow, Deflex/ Reflex bow nomenclature.
Afternoon Daryl. ... We know that the limb profile description Deflex/Reflex has been around for a long time so at what stage does it mystically become a hybrid. The term hybrid is a load of advertising garbage being used by manufacturers to sell more bows. Can you enlighten us and in twenty words ...

Re: Want to buy 2 Fixed blade knives with sheaths
Thanks Nephew , schrade knives aren't what they used to be either, outsourced to china now and have heard a lot of bad feedback about them. which is very disappointing. American made schrade knives are very sought after now.

Re: Recurve, Longbow, Deflex/ Reflex bow nomenclature.
 this is quite the argument, but as most of us are members of Trad gang, Trad archers, leatherwall and the like where these bows are always referred to as R/D hybrid longbows, which on here we are being told to refer to as D/R bows, not a longbow, not a hybrid and also not a recurve ????? :con...

Re: Recurve, Longbow, Deflex/ Reflex bow nomenclature.
same could be said for the clubs/ organisations though, perhaps if they all used the same standards and set of rules the confusion and disagreements would be less.

Re: Recurve, Longbow, Deflex/ Reflex bow nomenclature.
It's a bit like you can't drive a modified vehicle from NSW in Queensland, we all know how stupid it sounds when road rules and regs vary from state to state, same thing here, which is a reason for not wanting to join a club, I feel the politics would take away from the "fun" that I have w...

Re: Recurve, Longbow, Deflex/ Reflex bow nomenclature.
Nomenclature will vary from club to club, I don't see the issue with calling a flat laid bow a longbow, a R/D (on this site) or more commonly known as a D/R hybrid longbow just that, and a recurve a recurve, we all know what is being referred to  , as for the club/ association rules all having...

Re: Laminated Bow info.

Re: Laminated Bow info.
This is what was mentioned in the article I read about glue giving way at higher temps than cured, as general everyday conditions don't apply to every situation. Hot car, shed, etc, my bow shed is insulated lined and aircond all summer due to my bows and bow building components being housed i...

Sorry Graeme, but as I have said before I am not here to argue, just stating that it is something I have read and as I said not sure if true but a decider all the same.

I just prefer the oven as I have read somewhere that if epoxy is going to fail it will do so at higher temps than cured at, not sure if true but was a decider for me.
