Re: A look at FLATLINE

Got on to Jeff, asked about the info sheet, he suggested I post it in the bowyers category, (makes sence really) so it's there now.

FLATLINE BOWS

Here's the info sheet on FLATLINE BOWS. FLATLINE BOWS INFO SHEET I currently have two basic take-down models available in various lengths (the MC series), a one piece re-curve/longbow hybrid in two lengths (the Flatliner), and a 58 inch one piece re-curve (the Raptor). Take-down re-curves ; MODEL ON...

Re: Useful attributes for local timbers

Jeese Rod it looks like you raided my timber rack  . Out of those timbers I wouldn't use the Maple (too soft very low modulus of elasticity and crushing strength) the spur Mahogany may be doubtful too, the grain length may be a bit short. I don't have data on the QLD walnut but I use quite a bi...

Re: A look at FLATLINE

Yeah Troy I thank the old bugger occasionally too. No we don't have one like Purple Heart which doesn't bother me personally,(not one of my favorite timbers) we do have purple Gidgee, it's pretty hard to find but the bits I've seen are fairly purple. I thought fiddle back was a feature of timber, I ...

Re: A look at FLATLINE

Thanks Ivoricollector, comments like that mean more when come from other bow makers. As for flying under the radar Troy, that was kind of intentional and I’ll tell you a short tale so you know where my head’s at. About 25 years ago I had a job supervising a very flash and expensive dec...

Re: A look at FLATLINE

Re: A look at FLATLINE

Australia really needs a one-piece recurve, and yours look truly amazing. Very tempting... Thanks Ben, The one piece comes in 66" and 68" so it's a bit of a hybrid, sweet shooter though, arrow speeds of about 180 fps with a 9.5 grain/ pound of draw weight arrow. The MC2 and MC3 take downs...

Re: A look at FLATLINE

Thanks again Moreton, Hey I just noticed you live on Coochiemudlo, Wow that really brings back fond memories. When I was around 4-6 years old, on the occasional Summer week end Dad would hire one of those old putput diesel launches and take the family out there for the day. I haven't thought about t...

Re: A look at FLATLINE

Thanks Rob, I'll try and work out the timbers after a beer or two. I lived in NQ for many years and love those tropical timbers. I am waiting to buy this bow of yours from Paul http://www.ozbow.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10536 . I'm a one-bow kind of person, but I don't think that attitude ...

muntries wrote:do you have a website yet Rob? What core timbers do you use?
Almost FLATLINE BOWS.COM should be up and running in the next few months. I use a Bamboo core in the hybrid (which is called a Flatliner) and there are only two lams in the recurve limbs so no core as such.

A look at FLATLINE

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site,(as a mater of fact I'm new to any site so be patient with me) it was suggested I should post some photos of my bows here (this being the real trad site). I'll try this, if it doesn't work can some one help me with my computer illiteracy. Cheers, Rob. http://i1225.p...
