Re: What poundage for a starter?
Yep 40-45lb, if the poundage is too high it could encourage bad form or habbits.

Re: Interesting article New Guinea bows
I was given a PNG bow about 20 years ago by a mate of mine, but have never strung it. I believe it is no longer viable. but must say it feels of a very heavy poundage. I now see by the size of the arrows they throw why the bow is made this way. Very interesting.

Every weekend I do my best to assassinate as many of these special little A%$@#$!. I consider it a religious experience every time I introduce one to its maker! Just wondering if we should bring to light this closer to home sport of course bearing in mind safety and the law. I am very sure a great m...

Re: Split fingers vs 3 fingers under
For a time I turned to the Dark Side of the Force and trying not to swear I used a...... Compound (my appologies of the course language!) and later found in a 55-60" recurve, the style also seemed to fit. I must also add I started with tabs and now use a glove, and seem not to have a problem wi...

Re: Split fingers vs 3 fingers under
I only moved to 3 fingers under to avoid pinch on shorter bows. But Greybeards point about tillering may be the answer to your problem I have not had any problems alternating to suit the shot, though I only follow my own rules these days. But i feel 3 fingers under can give you a cleaner release, de...

Re: have a look at my ...fly
Wayno it took ages to balance the Copper and lead wire so they sat up the right way and moved properly, the small one still needs some re-adjustment. But they are quite effective especiall on carp in lakes and small streams. The Tadpole is weighted also, not that you can see.

Re: have a look at my ...fly
I havent taken a camera in years, not on a fishing trip or even a hunt. I may have to consider it some time. Though I haven't really broken any records I just love spending the time as rare as that time is.

Hey Tony Cool hunt if you can produce a Yowie, from the what I have read it was supposed to be about the size of a black bear, I would opt for the heavier shafts and a roll of toilet paper! Though I believe the below artists interperetation of the long dead Thylocene could almost resemble a Panther ...

Re: have a look at my ...fly
I have on all of them, but the little Muddeye doesn't do as well as the large black one or the Tadpole. The one with the wings seems to be the best just on dusk when the fish are slurping insects off the top of the water.

I noticed some nice Flies posted a while ago and wondered if any of you guys would appreciate a couple of my creations, they took quite a while to make ( quite a bit longer than is practical i might add ). Many want me to make them a few but boy are they time consuming. I would now rather buy the bu...

Re: Knapped heads
I saw a Docco with Malcolm Douglas quite a few years ago showing aborigines using beer bottles to knap for spear heads. it showed how they heat them up in a fire and used roo leg bones to knap it into shape. I wouldn't mind knowing who does actual flint knapping for arrows in Australia, flint knappi...
