Re: Timber shafts
POC is not the only choice, Johnny Mac AMSO128 has European Pine shafts or there are Hoop Pines.
Just food for thought.

Re: A Big happy 18th Bithday To My Little Girl
I added a jpeg of the young Emma as it would not open on the phone as I was told today.
Thanks roadie she had a great day at the club, it was nice of HVTA to have a shoot day on her birthday.

Re: A Fileld Knife
Yes it is weld. This was to give me an idea of what might be the result when I do a forge weld, I know mig weld and forge weld is not the same, of mild wire rope and carbon steel.
I like to play with making things. Its the fitter in me.

Yes that happens when you weld high carbon, it bubbles. I might do some more grinding.

A Fileld Knife
I made a Fileld knife, don't worry about trying to google, it is a file that I mig welded just to see what it would be like. It is not the best but it helped with a slow night at work and it has given me some ideas. Fileld Knife.jpg I was once told that archery is an addiction, yes, and so is knife ...

Re: A play with the forge
I had a bit more fun with the forge turning a roller bearing into a blade.
The roller was 35mm long by 15mm dia one end 17mm dia the other.
the total length of the blade is 110mm with a thickness of 5mm.
I now have to dress the blade and finish it off.

A play with the forge
I have always wanted to have a go at making Damascus. A while ago I got some 12mm wire rope so I thought I'd have a bash. I made a forge with besser blocks and made a burner and belted out this little blade. rope knife blade.jpg Now to do the grind and heat treat. The blade is only 1.5" long an...

New Years Arrows
I have just finished a dozen arrows to replenish all I broke last year. I bought 12 9mm by 1.8m long hoop pine dowels for Masters before they closed. I made a barrelling jig years ago for a mate to use, instead of me making his arrows, so I set it to taper the front 11/32" up to 23/64" 3&q...

Making a Couple of Longbows
Hi all how's it all going? Back in the beginning of the year, where has the time gone, I was asked to make a bow each for the 2 boys from next door. I talked them into a longbow instead of a compound. Anyway finally got one out of two glued up today with the other to go into the form in a few days. ...

My New Knife
Hi all I just thought I would show you my new knife that I made.
I made the blade from an old parting off blade, the type that has replaceable tips, that got broken, an offcut of brass and a bit of horn from the pet shop. Here is a close up Ron
