Re: Toth Mongolian Shot Sequence
Nice work. With the tree in the background you can gauge the movement of the archer, bowhand and bow. He does drop his string hand a bit and raise the bow hand, but very little, and well after the arrow has left. It also shows how and where the limbs move... they seem to stay static a fair way up th...

At that chinese restraunt tonight I was probably eating sea kitten. I just take comfort in knowing that despite the big money backing them, and the carefully planned programs they coordinate and the prominent support they have garnered, and the inability of smaller non-financial, interest grou...

Re: The Weekend
Hopefully I can get to put some holes in something with my arrows... even if it is just fresh air (like this afternoon)! I need to do some work for the mother in law... but once that is knocked over, a bit of time on the archery range is definately on the agenda. Or, if the weather turns... finish r...

Archery Supplies doing a bit of a Samick old stock clearout
http://www.archeryshop.com.au/ If you have a bit of a poke through the Samick hunting recurves you will find that a number of old stock bows, most in lower poundages are marked down a bit. Might be good for the garbed crowd or entry level. This was as at 7/1/2009. Mark (note, I'm not associated with...

Re: My Latest Tattoo
Yep , it's a Phoenix :) It will have Green , Reds , Yellows , Purple , Blue and Orange in it , as well as Cherry Blossoms all around it and some greay shading . I have been tattooing for about 6-8months and the wife picked the picture out of a flash book . Impressive indeed. Will be interesting to ...

Re: Tradbits
I recently got a couple of the targets and they are very impressive. Certainly freaked out my dog. Mark was great to deal with. I managed to catch up with him at my local club before Christmas and after a good old chat bought a pair of limb covers that dramatically improve the look of my silver ILF ...

Impressive. Better than a fair bit of 'pro' work I've seen (well... work they apparently paid money for.)
Have you done much work? And is the picture an original?

Thanks. I don't suppose you have a link to a picture somewhere - I can't quite visualise having a side nock for the string. I've just read the bit regarding the battle between William Wallace and Edward 1 at Falkirk. The Scot archers were unfortunately not a part of the defensive positions in among ...

'scotch bow' ? what is it?
Let me feel that bow, Wilkins! It is a Scotch bow, I see, for the upper nock is without and the lower within. By the black rood! it is a good piece of yew, well nocked, well strung, well waxed, and very joyful to the feel. I think even now that I might hit any large and goodly mark with a bow like ...

... then I believe you should be pricing them more up around the $300+ mark . For a dozen, of your top, crested, breasted, spined, footed, etc arrows, yep. 100%. No worries. Those are not 'spray and pray' or stump shooting arrows, they are either 'save for a rainy day' kind of special or dust colle...

Merry Christmas and more importantly, have a safe holiday and New Year. Where at Eucumbene were you? I had a relative with a place backing onto the lake at Anglers Reach and a couple of years ago the water was so low that the banks were just basically mud, and the trees that were becoming exposed had hooks and lures hanging off them. It was a lovely area and I was somew...

My first and only golden perch was taken whilst out on a carp bash and came in at around 7lb, but no-one had told me about the spikes at the back of the cartlidge over the gills... whereupon I promptly discovered how solid the spikes on the dorsal fin are... ouch!

Re: Armour Piercing Arrows
'I for one, would not like to have been wearing even that much chain mail.' It was an interesting set of exercises. They concede the armour was not period and that they were shooting at the lower end of the draw weight scale. I'd like to see them using some steel that is period style/spec but also w...

A local store has single woods made up @ $10ea, and list them for $100a doz. These look to be plain cedar shafts, parallel sides, no coatings, ugly whatever was left 4" feathers and a field point. and you will never recoup what time and skill you put into them. If you are doing them on a semi c...

Will be interesting to see the pics as the tillering comes through. Out of inane curiousity.... does the Osage wood have any particular smell? Gee that is a nice looking bit of gear. I even forwarded the link to a non archer friend and she still agreed it was a great looking bit of work. Is finger pinch an issue, or does the forward handle/grip overcome that to a point? I dont suppose you might have a picture of the bow at full draw? Just ...

Does the hole for the limb bolt go all the way through the riser? Are you somehow able to tighten it up that way?

Well that is the flaw right there. Whatever the motivation is, the argument about regulation, restriction and controls that will someday happen, will not be reasonable.looseplucker wrote: If the debate could be reasonable then I think it would be a welcome thing.....

I don't envy Mr Larven's position - he is trying to look after the interests of his side of the sport and there are people coming from all angles with all agenda's that cut across the other interests or spheres of what could more widely be called a lifestyle. It is a bit of a hiding for nothing,...

Yes, seems they are unhappy the NSW gumbyment changed the gun laws to free things up a wee tad. Removed a requirement for gun clubs to bin memberships of people convicted of crimes, made it possible for 'men' who have had AVO's to get licenses (I noted that the news item singled out men for some rea...
