Erron, From the man himself I believe. I must agree that it is a great book written by an Aussie who is very passionate about bowhunting and has a real love of the bush - a love that is shared by his family and friends. I highly reccommend Bill's book and my copies have their special place in my lib...

Shaft Penetration
Moderator's note: this thread started to go a bit 'astray' for the Traditional Tackle area, so I hived off the fun posts and sent them here. - Erron Yes Jeff, that's what i was thinking, about the softer tissue and blood lubricating things. I can't believe we're talking about things like this: lubr...

G'day Bill, I have a few but have not tried them. It would seem that the spine was definately different with some of your shafts. Perhaps they weren't matched properly or some got mixed up. Being the hex ones you would think that they would spine even around the shaft but maybe they are weaker (bend...

I don't see that it should. The paint may be a different type to the varish and is melting because of the friction when going into the target - hence hindering the penetration. On game it is different because the arrow is going into soft tissue which has moisture and blood which lubricates the arrow...

G'day Tuffcity, Very valid question. As you already know a lot of the game shot in Australia are ferral and shot (humanely) in part to assist in eradication. However a lot of the animals are good eating. Two of my favourites are goat and pig roasted in a camp oven. Other game that is eaten regularly...

Thanks for sharing that Jack. As I read it you didn't do any wrong. It was an accident and no blame could be put on you. It's regretable that it happend but you certainly did the responsible thing. Imagine if the you said nothing and the property owner found his dead goat with an arrow in it. It wou...

Mark P, I wasn't saying your post supported those things either. I was just taking that opening paragraph and commenting on it. Sometimes it's hard to convey things via a computer screen. I agree with your comments above. However I still feel that when the crunch comes, having the support of the non...

G'day All, This is a very valid topic for the bowhunters amongst us. There has been some very good points raised so far and I agree with most of them however I want to comment on something Mark P said. I reckon the traditional bow and wooden arrow present us each with an opportunity. What we choose ...

These posts have had some good advice. I have a little tale which is similar. Quite a few years ago now, mid eighties, we went for a hunt to a new property out Augathella way. We arrived very late at night so just camped on the side of the property road not all that far from the homestead. Well next...

That's great news about your hunting properties Guy. Do you think that might help relieve your stress levels a little after a...

G'day Charly, I do not know Heinz. When you wish to come to Australia you will have to let us know and I'm sure we could arrange to take you for a hunt. Please post some photos of your hunt. It would be great to see them. It is always good to see different country. I do not have a web site and I am ...
