Just make sure you leave the poodle at home though Strowie. :D Don't forget to leave one of those Ol' boys for me. Also you can scout around let me know the location of the biggest and easiest tree to climb - on second thoughts, maybe not as I wouldn't have time to check for the chainsaw cut. ...

Butcho I reckon Ol' Whip will make'm look. You blokes will have to send over a pallet load of beef before you leave or you will either be very broke or very hungry - at the price of a steak over there. Strowie I don't think you have seen Han's back yard. Erron, A pig can swim but in knee deep stuff they can run faster than we can on dry land. You could easily end up sporting a pair of pants like Glenn did on his last hunt or a shirt that looked like the one Mark was wearing. The flood plain counrty is just swamp and you can have mud, grass and...

G'day John, As others have said, welcome! Dennis and Glenn will no doubt be able to help you with the selfbow making as they have made many. I have only made a couple with Dennis keeping a watchful eye over proceedings. Hope to make another when he is up at the end of the month. :D I have made a few...

Mark, Thanks for the info. I haven't checked in for awhile either so it's taken a while to answer your reply sorry. Like the others have said, that is a good boar. That flood plain country sure is different to hunt. As you said there isn't anywhere to run to if things go bad. Kinda makes the adrenal...

Danny,

Could you give us some more info on your arras as well. Diameter and finished weight. I know you said they were around 700 grains. What weight is the Hunters Head, 160 gr? Are they the John Schultz head?

Thanks

Chad, That 85 pounder should do the job no worries at all!!! :D Those heavy arrows should help plenty also. What type are they since they're so heavy, Forgewood? Having such a long draw (long power stroke) is an advantage also. I only draw 26 1/2 inches. :? I must go and have a look at your web site...

That is funny Griffo.

I once got off my bike and forgot to put the side stand down and of course you know the result.

That wasn't the most embarrassing thing though - the kind of bike I was riding at the time was. That's all I'm saying.

I was hunting with friends from up there and not with guides. My euipment was around a 70lb longbow with wood sha...

Since way back in the 1980's I have always carried my Kershaw folder. I don't know the model name. It has about a four inch drop point blade. It has done everything in the field from skinning, butchering and removing heads and tusks. For the last few years I have also been carrying a Leatherman Wave...

I also use similar to Griffo however I won't use the plastic bottles. They're not good for wood arrows. The other fill which is light and pulls an arra up quick is fly screen off cuts. Jeff

Erron,

I think a humor section is a good idea and I like a laugh as much as anyone. It just seems to me, going by a couple of recent posts, that the humor is edging to the gutter side. I can't see this having any positives for Ozbow. However you and others may think differently. Jeff

Mik, I think one of the best woods for making your own shafts is Oregon. It can be rather heavy, is strong and stays nice and straight. It is good to work with also. Use close grained wood. It is often available from second hand places also. It was used a lot in building and old beds frames were mad...
