Re: Sunnie Coast trad

To the Sunny Coast Bowmen Crew thanks for a great shoot yesterday.

Great location, courses, food, raffles and company... just a bit on the TOO BLOODY HOT side so lots of sweat from all.

Thanks for a great day!!!

Re: I know this is not Archery

Hmmmm, this is as Graeme says like most things more complex than it at first appears. I worked in the supermarket industry in Australia for 15 years and there are a couple of realities here: 1. Customers "buy" with their eyes first and foremost. If it looks different to what they expect - ...

Re: Thumb Ring for recurve

I found both videos interesting but the one on Khatra seems "not quite right" to me. It seems as if the archer is twisting the bow while the arrow is still on the string - effectively moving the back of the arrow to the archer's right. It looked like he was trying to compensate for incorre...

Re: Thumb Ring for recurve

Hey Curve, sounds like a challenging time for you. I have only shot a little with a thumb ring so certainly no expert but here is the little I do know. 1. Thumb ring fit is critical. Ideally the "hole" you put your thumb through should be a slightly "flattened" circle as your thu...

Damn, that's a shame!

Hopefully not too much damage to the club and to home and farms in the area?

Best of luck for the remainder of 2016 and here's to being able to re-schedule in 2017.

Re: Granite Belt Bowmen shoot 29/30 October 2016

Hey Kerry,

is this going to be a real Trad Shoot - make your own groups, shoot at your own pace, self knocked arrows allowed etc - or will you be following strict ABA rules??

It's a long way to come and then be told I can't shoot my self-knocked arrows.

best regards,

This was the 3rd Trad Shoot on my southern tour - the Bega Valley Archers Asiatic Experience, the Mallee Sunset Trad Shoot and then the Swan Hill Inaugural after spending a few days exploring the Grampians. As Roadie said above we had a fair bit of rain on the Thursday and Friday leading up to the s...

Re: Mallee Sunset Trad Shoot 3/4 Sept 2016

I attended the Mallee Sunset Trad Shoot this year the weekend following the Bega Asiatic Shoot. This was my second time at Mallee Sunset and thank heavens it wasn't as cold as last year. Roadie and the team at Mildura put on another great shoot this year with lots of interesting targets in great set...

Re: Bega Valley Archers 27 / 28 Aug

Being a long term asiatic bow fan this seemed like a must attend for me. Of course living in Brissie makes Bega a pretty long drive. Good thing was that the weekend after was the Mallee Sunset Trad Shoot at Mildura and then the next weekend was the Inaugural Swan Hill Archery Club Trad Shoot. So thr...

Thank you to everyone for the kind birthday wishes - they are very much appreciated. Hey Yeoman, the bow is 45lbs and will draw to 30 inches but I am shooting split fingers - I know, I know but learning to shoot with a thumb ring just did my head in and I gave up after about three months. Hey Perry,

given the struggle you have had and the progress you seemed to be making this is a real shame. Hopefully, just a speed bump on the journey though - don't give up!!

I hope to see you at Hinterland so we can drool over the Saluki together.

Stay positive, all the best,

Hey Little Arrows,

you make a very good point but of course many archers are used to shooting off a shelf and could probably not manage shooting around the handle as is required with this bow!! ha ha

Re: Temudjin's New Bow

Thanks Guys,

I'll be at Hinterland in a few weeks for their Trad Shoot and will bring it with me.

It needs to be shot often (at least a few times each week) especially in the early days to settle in and "learn how to behave".

Hi Seliora, I visited the club last Sunday and the signage said…" No ABA card, no shoot". Is that correct or not please? I was going to attend with my son but we are currently not ABA members and coughing up $65 each plus the shoot fees makes it a very expensive event as we normally only a...

Temudjin's New Bow

Well, 2 years ago last May I ordered and horn and sinew bow from Lukas Novotny of Saluki Bow in the USA.
