Re: dry fire

If it was the first time the bow had been dry fired, then yes, I think it probably would have broken by now if it was going to break. Generally you have to dry fire a bow multiple times for it to break. My horsebow has been partially dry fired from knocks breaking or falling off during release a few...

Bare shafting

Hi all!
Ive just been shooting my arrows bareshaft and I know that when it goes left, the spine is too high, when it goes right, the spine is too low but what about when the point go down? What does it mean if, when the arrow fly, they nose dive?

Thanks all,

Modbods

Hi all!
Has anyone here ever used modbods? If so then are they any more difficult to take out of targets than field points because I was thinking of putting a set of arrows together with modbods.
Thanks a lot,

Re: Fletching

That advice is good Nomad. Buy pre-spined and weighed shafts first, then if you want to go the whole wak and spine them and weigh them you can. Its by far easy enough to find pre spined and weighed shafts. Im pretty sure when you spine shafts, you sit the shaft on two points 26" apart and then ...

Re: What I like about archery....

I love archery mainly for the shooting and just trying to constantly better myself. I just love the feeling you get when you get the very center of the target. So you just keep shootin till' you do it again. Even if it takes 1000 shots... Well maybe not quite 1000 but yer... Also making arrows and s...

Re: New To Trad

Hi Vaughn! I agree with Jaydo. I think 65-70# may be a tad overspined. Maybe more like 60-65# and then try different point weights until you get the right spine. When youve got time after exams probably, come for a visit and Carl and I can help you. Although youve probably already organised t...

Hi Graeme, very nice bow!
I love the handle, it looks like it would sit in the hand nicely. How does having that kind of handle affect how the arrow comes out? Is it nicer?

I suppose I'll just stick to 5/16" then until I have to go up in spine.

Thanks for the replies Guys!
So does this mean that theres not really any advantage with choosing 11/32" diameter arrows to 5/16"?
Thanks,

5/16" and 11/32"

Hi all!
I was just wandering how much of a difference there would be in arrow velocity between a 5/16" shaft and an 11/32" shaft of the same weight and spine? And how much of a difference would there be in strength and durability?
Thanks,
