Re: Medieval target arrows

Hi I had a few arrows with broken tips - so I used this guide I found. The were goldtip cedar arrows - I used forest red gum for the footings. My woodwork skill are mmm average at best - yet found this easy to do by hand. http://lochac.sca.org/bacchus_wood/A&S/A%20Set%20of%20Period%20Target%20Ar...

Yup it failed Bob,

But it was still a nice looking bow, your work is always great. Selfbows do have a habit of failing now and then lol.
Even with a perfect looking stave.

Was dissapointed - was expecting either a bow that shoots boomerangs or a boomerang that shoots arrows.
The latter sounds great as if I miss I could toss the bow as one final go.

Kangaroo leather as a backing

Found this interesting article ages ago, then lost it. http://leatherwall.bowsite.com/TF/lw/thread2.cfm?forum=23&threadid=235045&messages=3&CATEGORY=4 Opinion is that thin prestretched leather can increase draw weight on bows.Kangaroo leather seemsa good one to try as its Aussie! Rgds Rob

It seems like we need a new topic created, suggestions for titles:

Out Injured
Overdrawn
Faulty limb
Compounded Heath

My tendons have apparently healed - just arthritis in both knees giving me grief atm.

try this site

http://www.feralscan.org.au/feralgoatscan/map.aspx

At the bottom of the legend is an option to shown known feral goat areas.

There is also sister sites for all ferals eg pigs, rabbits etc.

Hey Morg Ive been having health concerns too. I found a resource that seems to be a secret to many Gps and specialists. Dandenong hospital has an outpatients service with many assistances available. For me it was a Hand therapist and Physio service. They were free as I'm on a Pension card. It took a...

Re: does anyone prospect while out hunting?

Hey Clinton This site has a summary of prospecting for each state http://www.prospectorspatch.com.au/eshop/pages/Fossicking-Laws.html I do know that where I used to Shoot 30 odd years ago mineral rights on crown land were all booked out. If one of the local prospectors ( who owned the rights) found ...

Hey Rod Ex pest controller here - I,m assuming that the sawdust is fine and flour like. If so, its Lyctid type of borer (powder post beetle) that attacks only sapwood in certain timber. Official treatment is by pretreatment (under high pressure only). My tech manual states that Higher starch pored t...

Ps Tip - Scientists have identified an enzyme in carrots that can reverse grey hair. Drinking cold pressed
carrot juice daily helps hair and skin. The enzyme counters Hydrogen peroxide in the scalp with causes
greying. (from the internet lol)

Re: Where in Victoria can I go stumping?

Ganthor I've read a few discussions on various sites. My read on it is that hunting is allowed on MOST state forests, unleased crown land, refer to DSE. Target practice involving damage to flora can lead to charges - I'm assuming vandalism type offence. I got the impression any target practice is fr...

No I didnt get the truffles. CAst off and they tell me the bone is healed, but the tendons in the right elbow are slower to heal (up to 18 months.) The physio explained that as well as minor tears I have big gaps in the structure, like when you first start to untwist a string. The good news is that ...

Never been chased, but I was wandering around French Island and stood on one. Luckily its head was down its burrow and couldn't bite me. We had a debate of how far it was down its hole: could I run away??. Finally we decided that the safe thing was to break its back and then remove my foot, turned o...
