I would prefer to shoot one of my own recurves above anything else, but if had to buy a longbow i would buy a Big Jim, they are a seriously good bow, then a Black widow after that and a great plains after that.

That was awhile ago now, I have redesigned the risers somewhat and I am going to static tips now to try to smooth them out and help with performance, well that's the plan anyway. :biggrin:

That"s right Fanto, if you use back tension on a heavy bow and pull through with that tension it's almost like you are unable to hold it anymore and the release is a surprise, as good back tension releases are supposed to be. But light bows the release is more forced. Dan I like shooting heavy ...

It works out about 2.5 to 3 pounds per inch, so about 62-63 pounds.
