Re: An Interesting Comment:
Generally if unbraced Profile is the same regardless of materials used performance will be similar. If you can increase Braced String Tension via design ie static recurves, reflex etc the only means available to increase performance for a given draw length is less mass, be that less mass in the Limb...

This is the 2nd report in as many Days from the ABC reporting a native Animal shot with an Arrow. Despite the RSPCA's predictable Agenda driven WRONG comment I am sickened by this. Law Abiding Bowhunters and Archers do not deserve the indignity of being lumped in with the Scum that do these things y...

pitfalls indeed ! I have read that Smart TV's are capable of recording info and sending it to Retailers or worse. If I go on EBay to look at how much somethings worth or to check availability, next thing you know adverts for that item pop up on my Facebook Page. Mobiles can basically track your wher...

you can now buy the DVD Folks. Its Region 2 but those of you with Multi Region DVD Players will be right. I have a very old DVD Player and if you know the Codes you can switch between Regions. I'd reckon a Computer DVD would play it. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Der-Mann-aus-dem-Eis-DE-Version-Regio-...

Re: Riser Length and limb length when it comes to draw weigh
It depends on the length of the Limb and the Limb Pocket Angle so it's hard to be precise. I dont know if the newer system uses different length Limbs like the ILF System does. Roughly with the ordinary ILF Limb if you buy a set of "Long Limbs" you'll get about a 2# increase in Draw Weight...

Re: Laminated ELB timbers
there has been recent issue's with Smooth On Epoxy failing. I believe Smooth On has fixed the issue - trouble is at great cost to many Australian Bowyer's. I'm sure there's a few Blokes about here in a better informed position than I about the many virtue's with Smooth On. Techniglue is very good, I...

Re: PVC bows
you want the thick walled Orange PVC Pipe Troy, I cant remember what it's called in this Country. The White stuff is no good for anything but little Kids Bows. Schedule 40 is an American rating. I have only played at making them, have not got fair dinkum. I know 3 Blokes that make very nice PVC Bows...

Re: Feathers in the Rain
I use a shot out 3D Target and never shoot more than 7 Arrow length's with unfletched Arrow Shafts until I have the brace height and nock height set correctly. Also long experience and a spine jig allow me to be in the ball park from the start. I find longer Arrows are also more forgiving of spine.

Re: Feathers in the Rain
Rons on the money, properly Spined Target Arrows will still fly well when the Feathers lay Flat in the Rain. The real trouble is we are mostly using domestic stripped and dyed Turkey Feathers so all natural oils have been removed. I am getting my NSWDPI R Licence and a Waterbirds Permit soon so I wi...

you can also saturate a rag with the above Wax mix, keep it in a plastic Bag in your Quiver and wipe it over the Bow and even your Arrows.

What Daryl says is spot on Scooter, sadly there is far more Pink Ash than Red Ash growing in this District and the Moreton Bay Council takes a pretty dim view of cutting the Red Ash Tree's they planted on the Footpaths  My Back does not allow me to Cut larger Tree's for clean Billets any more b...

Re: Carbon Aluminium or Wood for hunting arrows
Ian it will boil down too are you prepared to buy store bought components and assemble them or do you want to make your Timber Arrows from scratch. Unless you buy your Timber Shafts from a Custom Supplier you will find it very difficult to buy consistently spined and weighted Arrows. Not Trad but fr...

Scooter can you access a Bush area and cut a Tree legally ? There is a large number of suitable Species growing in the South East that make good Selfbows. 2 common Tree's in South East Qld that make good Selfbows are both are known as Soapwood. https://www.anbg.gov.au/gnp/gnp6/alph-exc.html and http...
