Re: Bow Draw Weights for Hunting in Australian States
Horses for courses I would think, and a bit of common sense thrown in (though common sense seems to have disappeared in the modern world to some degree). Much would depend on what you are hunting, and how good at stalking you are. Often I think accuracy is more important than poundage. Not much poin...

Re: Shaft suppliers
Just off the top of my head, you could try Abbey Archery, Redback Archery, and Sioux Archery (3 Rivers shafts). Alas Tradbits are no more.
I use to get my shafts from Rose City Archery in the States, as they were a manufacturer.

Re: TAA Proposed Equipment Guidelines 2020
Going by the TAA website, the proposed 2020 equipment guidelines have been ratified. Seems they dug their heels in, and went with their draft fully. Probably won't be long before hybrid get re-labeled as Modern Longbow, now that we have a Modern Recurve Division. Very traditional.

Re: Broadhead Weight to use
Just so you know, I couldn't get 1820 threaded inserts, so I purchased 1816 ones and used a disk sander to remove a bit (2 thou) of the 'ribs' of the insert to make it fit the shaft. It was easy enough.

Re: Broadhead Weight to use
Jim's advise is good. I've started using Easton Genesis XX75 1820's recently, from my 50lbs recurve. These are a heavy arrow at 12.2g/inch. Using these with a 135g broadhead (including adapter). Overall, a reasonably heavy arrow. However they don't have an extreme FOC, and fly beautifully and pretty...

Re: TAA Proposed Equipment Guidelines 2020
I wonder if it might be advisable to change the division name from just "Longbow" to 'Traditional Longbow" as they have done for "Traditional Recurve". The Australian Traditional Longbow was the Howard Hill style longbow. This could help reduce the ambiguity of having just &...

Re: A matter of choice
Good point, my bad. One would have to read the article in its entirety to get the full impact, but in many respects, it is a story of transition on a few different levels - but we will stick to the archery side of thing. To summarise, decades ago, man shoots recurve barebow. Likes friends compound w...

A matter of choice
A really good and quite candid article in Archery Action Magazine this month from Nils Spruitt, which struck a cord, in so much as why so many of us choose traditional equipment over the modern compound.

Re: TAA Proposed Equipment Guidelines 2020
What was the old saying about archery, 90% ability 10% equipment? That might have been true once, and I remember the adage, but the modern compound can make the most mediocre archer shoot reasonably well - something they would not have been able to achieve with a compound bows some 20-30 years ago....

Re: TAA Proposed Equipment Guidelines 2020
I see that under the traditional recurve division 2019, that the timber riser bow had to be shot off the shelf. The proposed 2020 revision now allows a non-mechanical elevated rest, no plunger button. Whilst in reality, it probably makes little difference to accuracy, the bow being shot off the shel...

Re: TAA Proposed Equipment Guidelines 2020
I love these old pictures. I had the same document (see attachment). Whilst not short, the limbs are quite wide and the handle section narrow. A board bow in many respects. Yes this is an American Flatbow, not a Howard Hill style semi-longbow (where the limb width to depth ratio is smaller for a sta...

Re: TAA Proposed Equipment Guidelines 2020
Thanks for sharing the download Daryl, that was interesting. So the Century21 bow started all the problems. I don't mind Dennis's definition of what is an appropriate length of a longbow based on the archers height (at least shoulder height), as it is my understanding that many composite longbow bow...

Re: TAA Proposed Equipment Guidelines 2020
I'm not sure where the elevated rest (toothbrush) on a longbow ever came from, for this draft. Cant say I have ever seen a longbow use one, though I have on a recurve. It would seem that this was done to appease some idiocratical idea of the draftees or a friend there of. I see that some english arc...

TAA Proposed Equipment Guidelines 2020
Seem the TAA has a new proposed Equipment Guidelines draft to be ratified for 2020. Unfortunately they appear to have got it wrong right from the first paragraph about Longbows: Longbow refers to the traditional straight end style longbow. In some circles these are also known as American Flatbow’s. ...

Re: WANT TO BUY A 400 SPINE POWERFLIGHT OR AFTERMATH BARE SHAFT IN BRISBANE
Check out the Spu Miller Spine Calculator - I have found it to be pretty accurate: https://www.3riversarchery.com/dynamic-spine-arrow-calculator-from-3rivers-archery.html A couple of things you also need to consider 1. What type of recurve are you shooting - in particular, where the arrow rests in r...

I see in Victoria, that a mother, who was teaching her daughter how to drive (L plates) on the now quiet streets of Victoria, was fined $1300 for engaging in non essential activities. That is the saddest thing I have ever heard.

Re: Corona Virus rules for Victoria
Yeah, apparently the Qld minister said no recreational boating a few days ago, but retracted the statement a few hours later. Such blinded ignorance, social golf is nothing like hunting or fishing out by yourself, and they would have to find you first. It tells you a lot about a governing body that ...

Re: Corona Virus rules for Victoria
Well, Victoria is the most woke and marxist state in the country. Do the rules specifically say no fishing or hunting? You are still allowed to get food to feed your family - and you could counter it with that. I went fishing yesterday (Qld). There were more young and middle age men at the boat ramp...

Re: Broadhead Weight to use
I tried extreme FOC and very heavy weighted points once.
Arrows flew like a thrown brick.
Trying to counter the trajectory after 10 metres was not conducive to accuracy at all.

I just did a google search and found out that this is a very new feature of Chrome.
It relates to using the same email address and password for other sites or apps. It may well be that the data breach occurred on another site.
Luckily I have about 6 other email addresses.
