Thanks for everyone's help. I appreciate it.
I'm still not sure whether I'm gonna go for it but I'll post results up here if I do.
Cheers.

Re: Broadhead Weight to use
Hi mate was thinking of going heavier, currently using 150gr but then thought that any much heavier would make for a real bananna trajectory and hence difficult to shoot with ant confidence. Cheers As long as you practice enough it doesn't really matter what your arrow's trajectory is. Go heavier m...

Re: Broadhead Weight to use
Ian, Do yourself a favour and read Dr Ed Ashby's studies on broadhead weight and design, among many other interesting things related to arrow design. You can find his studies on Tradgang or other websites. I wouldn't hesitate to use 300 grains on a 45 pound bow but there are other variables to consi...

Daryl, sorry. 10lb would be ideal but I'd settle for 5. Anything less and I wouldn't bother.greybeard wrote:greybeard wrote:.......By how much do you want to reduce the draw weight?........TomMcDonald wrote:.........The bow is marked 61# @ 28" but I'm drawing closer to 30".........

Re: Reducing weight in a fibreglass longbow
Thanks all for the advice. I will give it a go and see what happens.
The bow is marked 61# @ 28" but I'm drawing closer to 30".
So should i only remove material on the back, belly or both?

Reducing weight in a fibreglass longbow
Hi crew, I've got a heavy bow that's really nice and would like to reduce its draw weight if possible.
It's glass on back and belly.
Can i scrape or sand the sides of the limbs and then refinish after a desirable weight and tiller is achieved?
Thanks all.

Thinking about camping around Rocklands reservoir near Horsham end of month. Does anyone know if there are any deer south of Rocklands reservoir? Might take my recurve and have a look? Re: Heavy Single Bevel Broadheads
Ian, I've been using Grizzly broadheads for the last 10 years. They are fantastic heads but very expensive. Lately, I've been taking the 190 Tusker Concordes and grinding my own single bevel profiles. They fly very well but haven't yet tested them on game (will do so this weekend). I then add a 125 ...

Never had a problem with hoses with 66" longbow.
I find the tag-ends of the shoulder straps sometimes catch the string so I just tuck them into my pants or something.

65# custom longbow, 200 grain Grizzly El Grande broadheads with 200 grain adapters/inserts, Carbon Express Heritage 250 shafts. Cheers. Nice. I bet penetration wasn't an issue. :Bow That's the foreleg of the bigger one completely severed from the arrow. Passed through and the goat ran 8 metres.

Hi crew,
Got back into bowhunting after a long break and managed to bag these two delicious goats in a NSW state forest over the weekend. Hopefully the first of many more to come.

Re: Shooting in the Zone -Dale Marsh
Thanks Perry. Target panic is a bugger of an affliction. I suffered for years with it and eventually gave up archery and moved to rifles. After a few years I've picked up the bow again. This time around I'm much more conscious of shot sequence, etc. and have been using the methods of Jay Kidwell and...
