Re: Feedback on tomahawk longbows?
I looked at them a few years ago and watched the clip on the 3Rivers website of the Tomahawk being put together and when the guy putting it together got out the rubber mallet and started belting it to get it to go together , I lost all interest. I had images of me on hunting trip and its over 40c in...

Re: Bow Finishes - Whats everyone using?
Hi Muz
Have a look in ..The Bowyers Bench.. section of Tradgang , it would be about year ago when the subject was on there.
They did some tests by coating bits of wood and then hitting it with rocks and it stood up pretty well apparently.
Let me know how you find the VHT.

Re: Bow Finishes - Whats everyone using?
On Tradgang in the US some guys have been using VHT Wheel Paint Gloss Clear
and they reckon its tough as hell.
You can buy it from Autobarn for about $15 a can, there is a Matte Clear as well.
I have bought a can, but have not been brave enough to try it yet .

Hi Slab Try this trick, give the boys a fox whistle and get them a face mask and get behind the tree using the tree to obscure any movement or make a blind out the surrounding bushes. Have them put an arrow on the string and have their fingers on the string and begin blowing the whistle and see what...

Re: When Fox whistling.
Hi Stu I always prepare for rabbits coming to the whistle by standing an arrow with a judo point on it next to me ,so I can drop the broadhead arrow of and pick it up slowly and have a shot at the bunny if no foxes come in. Also a sitting bunny will spot an approaching fox before you will, so keep y...

Re: When Fox whistling.

I had been whistling for about ten minutes on a game trail that came around a big clump of blackberries and as nothing had come in , I stopped whistling and took my arrow of the string and was looking down and putting the ar...

Refinishing a bow
I was thinking about having a go at stripping of the finish on my Cascade longbow and applying a new one. Can anyone give me any tips about where to source the right coating and what is need to do the job and how to go about it.
Thanks

That is the type I have and use the o'rings to hold in position. The Thunderhorn Boa seems to hold position better than my Selway quick detach, so I always use o'rings with the Selway.

Re: Creeping Quiver
I have both Selway and Thunderhorn bow quivers and what I have done with my recurves that have the 1/4" inserts in the risers for bolt on quivers and I have screwed in mushroom headed screws with a bit of plumbers tape on them so they tighten up about 3mm proud under the head and then I hook an...

I have super bright feathers and wraps, so I can find them once I have shot and missed  . But I,m with Cadet and have always believed that birds see colors, so I cover my bright arrows when hunting. That's why flowers and fruits are bright colors to attract birds to eat them and spread pollen ...

Bow arm , hold up your bow without pulling back on the string but with a little bit of tension on it and roll your wrist, left and right and you will see what I mean. Hi Bago A tip to stop slapping your arm, roll your wrist inwards as you draw so you keep the back of your wrist almost parallel with the outside of your forearm. I have shot trad bows for twenty years and I do not wear a wrist guard when shooting targets with either a longbow or recurve and I only w...

Re: Recurve Bow Quiver
I have both Selway and Thunderhorn and both hold six arrows, I would only buy six arrow quivers as there is little weight difference and you can all ways put less arrows in if you want. The Thunderhorn can be put on either a longbow or a recurve where as the Selway is bow type specific. With The Sel...

I don't think you could bugger it anymore than what it already has been, but as with any wood laminate bow there is the risk that they will all eventually go bang. I would get the same glue used by Bowyers to glue laminations together and put masking tape over the holes on one side of the riser and ...

Really good hunting trip always have a great time. It's a PCHX and the limbs have Olive Ash laminations in them. Spec's 54" and 53# and it has a low wrist grip that I really like. I got it 2nd hand from the Stickbow Classifieds in the US.
