Mate wants a custom Japanese-style bow...
Got a mate who wants a heavy Japanese-style bow, but because this goes against tradition the Japanese bowyers cannot understand or assist. Is there any Aussie bowyer willing to tackle such a project? My mate has a kyudo bow that he can take measurements from or send photos of. It's just too light, a...

Congratulations on a fine hunt! What sort of Black Widow did you get? I have good memories of hunting desert goats with Black Widows.

Nice work on that double, too! Wanted to say so on the thread about it, but couldn't, so here will do.

Re: Wanted: Fred Bear Recurve Bow.
Still got a couple of heavy ones sort of for sale. They're listed somewhere on here. I don't want to sell them bad enough to be bothered trying to pack them and freight them. I don't want them gone that much! It's a real hassle from the bush. But if ever anybody is heading through Katherine and want...

Re: Bow-and-arrow history question: Killed by arrow on beach
Phew! I'm not going mad! I found it: "Harold Bluetooth had once blockaded the ships of Svend in a bay. In the early morning he went ashore determined to destroy Svend and all his crews. While he warmed himself at a fire on the shore, one of Svend's men, Palnatoke, longbow in hand, crept up behi...

Bow-and-arrow history question: Killed by arrow on beach?
Hey, we're just doing some curriculum planning around Viking history, and I seem to recall, in the dim and dusty recesses of my feeble mind, something about some king - perhaps Viking - who was strolling along a beach when he was shot in the backside by an arrow, and killed. Now, does anybody know m...

Book and DVD Recommendation
Just arrived in the mail today, so I haven't but flicked through the book. It looks fantastic! The DVD is also perhaps the most professional, nicely made I've seen. The book is: "The African Diaries of Bob Eastman". It contains lots of recurve bows taking a variety of African game, big and...

Re: Traditional Bowhunters Club of Australia
Al is a top bloke, and while he might not be running a club, he is certainly a dedicated traditional bowhunter. In fact, he's just returned from a great first safari to Namibia. You can read about it in the Africa section of Tradgang.com.

Re: Shrew Recurve For Sale...
Selling to fund other projects. It is in excellent condition. I simply like the hybrid longbow version I have better. I sort-of collected bows for quite awhile, and it was a good journey, but now I am downsizing and keeping just a few to hunt with.

A chap on TradGang discovered that there is a book about him available from Amazon. If you search for "Rodney Carrington Wood" in Amazon, you will find it tucked away amongst a heap of somewhat different content.

Rodney Wood, Nyasaland's first game control officer, 1912...
Anybody heard of him? Sounds like an interesting bloke, for sure. There is a very short chapter about him in Brian Marsh's "A Pioneering Hunter". Aside from his double .475, Rodney Wood hunted big game with a bow-and-arrow, believing that, on a bad shot, it killed the animal better. He got...

Bundle of Assorted Bits For Sale - SOLD
G'day Team, Just this one little bundle for sale, altogether (don't want the hassle of breaking it up into little lots which amounts to extra postage, so I'll stick with making it one bundle at a bloody good price - if you don't need some of it, you might want to pass it on to somebody else)... Righ...
