feather combinations

I have been fletching my Gold Tip traditional carbons with 3x 4 inch shield cut feathers. I want a bit more stability for broadheads, and was thinking of going to 5 inch feathers, but have heard from a few blokes on another forum who shoot recurves and longbows that they shoot 4x4 inch vanes, and th...

Actually, i was a bit wrong. God didn't build us that way. He built us to look after others. Looking out for number 1 is part of sin, but you're right, sometimes the way we were MEANT to be shines through.

Yes, thank God.

I see your point Coach, i have never made any comment or bragged about that goat. In fact you and i talked about the luck involved with that one. I have never taken a deer either, but i have not until recently been anywhere near any either. Funny thing though, i am looking forward to hunting foxes w...

How do you "Judge" a Bowhunter ? Does it matter? I don't think it's up to us to "judge" anyone. Let them hunt. Then we go and hunt. Do what you know is right and what makes you happy. There's only one person you can change. If someone is happy, let them be happy. The less "...

Interesting to see the debate from this side of the fence. I have not recieved much flack at all from my compound-shooting comrades for "going all trad" on them, not the same way i copped it from trad archers when shooting the wheely bow. Derisive comments about "training wheels"...

Easy as pie mate.
Line them up at the ends and with the sides and smooth them on.
I think Voodoo have an expanding range of trad wraps for us too lazy (or with not enough time) to get into cresting.

I put these together today, along with a few flu-flu's (for shooting feral cats out of trees, and weighted milk bottles which are thrown in the air) http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c180/Jpukallus/arrows001_1.jpg Thanks again to Team Voodoo and Voodoo wraps, who make a great personalised product. I know some of the Australian string-makers. But not all of them. So, who out there makes flemish bowstrings?

Just thought i would let everyone know:
www.recurves.com

I just got a great string made to order with my Chek-mate hunter II. Chad does great strings in a choice of colours AND materials. He has agreed to donate some as prizes on TBGA.

Fantastic service too.

1. I think the strike plate thing is purely aesthetic, making it no better at what it does, which let's face it, is to stop your forearm looking like an eggplant. The only benefit i see in the plate one is that the backing piece is thinner, enabling it to be rolled and sewn on the edges, which hides...

Sorry Jaydo, I still have the trad arrowhead, but i can make up a few more if given time and an idea or pattern for a design. Other possibilities include a celtic circle or celtic square knot. For a guard made from a single piece i charge $40. for a carved "strike plate" sewn onto lighter ...

BOTH! The trad arrowhead has the three loops, but i prefer the newer style personally, as it is easier to "customise" the fit by tie-ing the cord to length. that's what i use on mine: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c180/Jpukallus/guard003.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c180/Jpuka...

Do you think i will need to go to 75/95's to have a stiff enough spine?
I am shooting 31 inches, at about 55lb?

Oh stuff it, i will just get hold of a few heavier heads and see what happens myself. All part of the fun.

Thanks guys,
Would it also work for me to just go to a heavier broadhead, like 170 or 190 grns, or will that give too much FOC with the arrows i am using, and at that length and poundage would i have to change to 75/95's?

Arrow weighting question.

Hi guys. I am gradually getting pretty happy with my recurve, and finding that i am more accurate than i thought i could be with no sights etc. to do all the work for me. Anyway, i am going to get serious about hunting pigs with it, as well as hares, cats etc. and next year: Deer. I don't understand...
