Re. Mike Smith, yes mate if I just purchase the one bow I will probably go for the take down option. I'm not sure as I am not a big fan of the sleeve method that H/H use although I am sure they know what they are doing. There are other takedown methods I prefer, so I could always have it cut in half...

Yeah, thanks Mike. I think thats the way I will go. I want to get a smaller longbow for my wife at the sametime, as I'm sure she is going to have a go at the trad side of things soon. She is new to the sport and still learning with her compound which she loves so she can find her own pace. By gettin...

OK. I reckon the shelf/no shelf idea is a pearler. I would still like to see a dedicated selfbow/historical bow class as well, for the reasons already mentioned. I would like to see a few more arrow classes for guys that would like to make a better wood arrow. Stickbow has a very good walk through o...

On the weekend I got the chance to shoot with my new roll-up fedora type hat from 3 rivers for the first tim...

Mate, I only shot one briefly many many years ago. I was an 80lber I think so was not the best bow to guage them on. I know there are some excellent Aussie longbows being made which I want to purchase sometime next year. The Wedgetail and the Barry Atkinson bows in particular caught my eye. Just tha...

Help that dedication pay off some more. Like Stickbow Hunter says, get to a club. Lots of valuable stuff to be learned and good friendships to be had.

Thanks Mick, It looks very nice with the veneer. I think you made a good choice. After seeing yours I have to say it is now on the short list for a future bow. I really like the takedown setup on it. My wife said that I'm not allowed to have a hundred more bows. So I reckon that's the go ahead for 9...

G'day Mick.
Like I said before lovely bow mate.

Two questions ... how does she shoot ?
And on the website for Chek-Mate they mention Limb Veneer as optional. I was wondering if you knew what they meant by that.

I agree with Lochmoy about keeping it simple. I'm not sure if no division is the way to go. But that's what we are here to discuss. I say that as I would still really like to see a category for selfbows and for historical bows, certainly you could lump all glass laminated bows together. Like I said ...

BTW. I think because in the UK they probably have such a high proportion of archers shooting ELB's and flatbows they are able to divide the two groups but I don't see that a necessary over here and for laminated bows.

Tom, thanks for the input again. I actually thought that the asiatic bows may have been at a disadvantage to other more 'conventional' recurves being that they are short bows so finicky on release and that they are shot of the hand. Although I would not have a problem with them being shot off a rest...

I would dearly love to see the Trad Archery go from strength to strength and would like to see enough participating to get a good number of shooting divisions without going to extremes of having Masters, A,B,C,D grade divisions. Mick, I am very much of the same opinion. I'll be honest. I have not been able in the past to shoot my longbows as well as my recurves. But I can actually shoot both pretty good. Woody. I don't know if we need less divisions. But maybe. Maybe some of the divisions that could be lessened would be the Mens Compound, A,B,C,D intermediate, unlimited, masters, etc etc etc. Mate I like shooting carbon and aluminium as well as wood. So shoot a longbow in recurve division. Tha...
