Thanks for all the help guys, appreciate it. Jeff, just like to clear up as you said each strand would be progressively shorter when using the jig. So you have a taper on both ends. Whilst using the other method where you actually cut equal lengths of strand, you stager both ends and the taper still...

Chris i after a one piece and dont mind too much if its a long bow or recurve.
But i heard the recurve may be a lot quicker and agile if i do use for hunting.

Came back from carba-tec today and looked at the bandsaws they have and found a small 10" one that seems reasonable for bow building and not bad for the $329 price tag. Throat is 254mm and a cutting depth of 125mm. just want to know if i should get this one or save up for a heavy duty 14" ...

Thanks for all the input guys, its helped me heaps. By the way i went out yesterday to shoot the boo backed bow and found the gap method seemed to work ok. Its just bit of a transition from shooting recurve with a sight. But then again i havn't been shooting all that long so its not too bad. Its fun...
