My bowmaking friend ordered yew billets from somewhere (mnot sure where, will find out) and the guy had hacked off huge chunks of the sapwood with his draw knife on some, leaving it too thin in places.

Heck, even if we can find exactly what postage company and style etc was used for that cheap a price, we can tell other bow makers to use that specific option! There are so many overseas makers who sell cheap "finish yourself" bows, but the postage is a real killer.
