Re: The Wrong Way, Again!
Jeff, It is obvious that the bow shown in the advertisement for Montague High Archery 2023 is a one piece recurve bow braced backwards. I apologize if my wording was misleading. The takedown recurve refers to the bow that was used in a banks TV commercial some years back. Daryl. Some years back one ...

The Wrong Way, Again!
When will the advertising / promotion companies use an archer that can draw a bow.
* Some years back one of the big four banks used a young female drawing a three piece target bow with the limbs bolted on back to front for one of their TV promotions.

Re: The future of Ozbow
Hi Eddie, I visit the site every day in the hope of seeing new posts and replies to previous posts. Over the years I have posted numerous bow making stories in the hope of motivating others to have a go. Although I am still making bows there is no point re iterating older posts. When I come up with ...

Re: Australian bow woods.
Hi Nicholas, I can't think of much more to add to your research. People also observe that most native woods are incredibly hard to work, even with steel tools, and it would be incredibly hard to make a functional self-bow with stone tools, even with green wood (except possibly with Red or Pink Ash)....

Hi Nicholas,
When going through old posts did you happen to find the following post?
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=15617#p163717
If not items #36 and #40 may have some useful information although you may already found this in other sources.

Re: American Semi Longbow (ASL)
Jeff, I only ever used a back quiver when in the bush but for some years now I have used a hip quiver when walking the archery ranges. A bow quiver may have some benefits when ambushing game from a hide or tree stands as opposed to tracking game on the ground. Some of the archers in the video appear...

I wonder how durable these vanes are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoyYbqNLCSg ”Traditionally, feathers of monal pheasants are used in arrows as fletchings. Jeff, From some of the videos I have watched standing along the shooting lane seems to be a common practice with Mongolian and Turkish traditional archery. I didn’t know until recently that Ben Pearson made Hill’s bamboo bows for the retail archery market. * Howard Hill_Ben Pearson 1941.jpg * The vulcanised fibre backing was probably the forerunner to fibreglass. https://www.polymerplastics.com/composite_vulcan.shtml It would appear that they were a re...

Unfortunately I was unable to get a photo of the bow at full draw [living by myself] and at the time it did not occur to me to take a photo of it at full draw on the tiller board.
As for braced I don’t think the brain was in gear at the time.
