Re: The Abbey 2011.

Thanks for posting the website Morgan. Terrific photos Grahame. It took a year of planning but it was all worthwhile getting Steve and Michelle out. It has given new meaning and a real boost to war bow.

Re: STEVE STRATTON MASTERCLASS - Warbow and English longbows

The visit from Steve Stratton was amazing. We learned so much about the making and shooting of the English War Bow. I realized that you don't have to be strong necessarily to pull a heavy weight. That much of it is in the technique. Along with our New Zealand counterparts, we have devised a ranking ...

I agree with everything you've said Chasin nocks and I have really enjoyed thrashing out these ideas as I have learned a lot also. Great discussion. Hooray for trad. archers! Just a couple of things Mick. Thankyou for respecting my principles. I also respect and value your informed opinions. I know ...

Re: No one with half a brain would vote Greens would they ?

Mick, where have you been? I agree with most of what you say and the debate in the Greens is by no means ended in regards to duck hunting. You would be a great asset to voice your views on policy and you don't have to be a member to do so. The Greens seek input from the public but to use peodaphelia...

Re: No one with half a brain would vote Greens would they ?

True to my word Len, I have met with Greens contacts and have voiced my concern over the idea of the Greens policy of banning recreational hunting. Those that I spoke to stated that they are actually in support of the hunting of feral animals as they consider them a threat to Australia's unique wild...

Hey Steve,

Could you add the Steve Stratton visit on to the calendar and do a bit of promo for us at your Australia day weekend?

We have made our numbers just but more participants would be even better.

Okay, Last couple of days to get your form in or to let us know if you are going to be late with it. We are at the magic number of 25 with 10 people wanting to do bows. This is tremendous. Thanks for the support. There are still about 5 people who were super keen but have not contacted me recently. ...

Re: No one with half a brain would vote Greens would they ?

Moreton, what you have just posted is exactly the way I see it. That if the raft of policies are good for the community and you agree with most of them then your own personal desires might sometimes have to come second for the best community result. If indeed it is the Greens policy then you can alw...

Re: No one with half a brain would vote Greens would they ?

Sorry to correct you Len and I am happy for you to show the error of my ways but I read through every Green policy and the only thing I could find about hunting was banning duck shooting. Something I happen to agree with by the way for purely an ecological point of view. I also discussed at length w...

I have been sending out reminders to everyone who has expressed interest (sorry to be a pain). We are so close to getting Steve out but we are short 5 participants. We need to know no later than Nov. 30th that you are coming for sure so we can purchase a plane ticket confident in getting Steve over....

Now just a bit of a crack of the whip. So far 2 thirds of those that expressed interest in the visit of Steve have committed most have paid but we still really need everyone to get a move on with their entry and payment. REMEMBER the end of November is the cut off point.

Re: STEVE STRATTON MASTERCLASS - Warbow and English longbows

When arriving at Melbourne airport (Tullamarine) you don't actually have to drive through the city. You simply skirt West around the city via the ring road. It's important you get your application in soon so we can make final arrangements.

The forest of arrows from 30 plus archers looked grand. You can imagine what 50000 arrows must have looked like during the 100 years war.

Re: Roving Mark the greatest form of archery comp ?

Indeed the most critical thing is the length of the draw. An extra inch or two makes a heck of a lot of difference as when I am tired and my draw shortens the arrows fall well short. But if the instructions say not to draw beyond the 28" then definitely don't.

Hi Simon, on some of the longer shots we allowed the lighter ELB's to move 20 paces closer to the flag. This worked really well. When you come to the Steve Stratton do next year this is one of the events we are going to hold. You'll love it.

Re: Roving Mark the greatest form of archery comp ?

In England this is a very common style of event, often done in the grounds of castles as well as across farmland. I am aware of events with 200 archers lined up. Now that would be a kicker! I was surprise actually how interesting it was to try to gauge the distance and along with slopes and dead gro...

Just a follow up. People who said they would be coming to this event are now committing fully by sending in their entry. 3 of the 5 staves have been spoken for already so if you want to specifically make a bow while Steve does the workshop, get in quick.

Remember, rsvp is end of Nov.
