For hunting I use an old grayling bear "grizzly" 58", 75# @ 30.5-31" I use a cavalier ST-300 arrow rest, I use them on all my bows. I use a 54" dacron flemish, 16 strand. With bush bumpers, and cat whiskers. For targets and hunting I use 33" cedar shafts, spined for 80#...

I like the zwickey eskimo 2-blades. Or magnus 2-blades. Just get the heaviest ones you can find. Or from 3 rivers archery you can get howard hill broadheads that go up to 200gr. I just orders some from a company called "german kinetics" silverflame broadheads. They only come in screw in ty...

Man, that's a pity. Maybe they can get it early and stop it from spreading. I really hope you guys don't ever get them. They are a little mite that rides on bees' backs and sucks their blood. Another control tip an old english guy taught me is to put a little mineral oil on the edges of the frames i...

I have quite a few hives, but I'm pretty far away. Do you guys have varroa(sp) mites in australia? In the us they have killed up to 50% of the honey bees! That makes me kinda worried. We do a few things to combat them, like when we put the honey supers in we let the queen lay eggs in one, which attr...

Last week I was in the ole bee hives doing some cleanup. There was tons of wax, I must have cleared out a half a pound. I use it on my strings the way it is, but I think the stuff you buy is processed somehow to make it less sticky, and lighter in color. Any clue what they do? Maybe just boil it and...

Man, I picked up more than just one can. I picked up enough assorted trash to fill the front 100litre storage compartment of my kayak. Everytime I go out I find mass amounts of stuff. At rainbow falls where we stopped for lunch, there is a sign that says "NO FIRES" which has of course been...

There are many mountains here. I prefer to use lakes and rivers to access the back country but mainly because of the cold, not the height. The town up north where I was born is at about 7000 feet above sea level.

I live in British Columbia. A few hours east/north of Vancouver. I do hunt, but I am pretty new to bowhunting. I have hunted since I was a child though, and am pretty pumped about the coming season. I should have some pictures. I'll post some. I hope to make a visit to australia someday soon, I have...

Do you guys wax your arrows?

I make my own arrows with either cedar or pine. I do clear coat them, but over time it seems to wear down. So I wax my arrows. I use some wax that is for boats, you rub it on, let it dry then rub again to polish. I swear I get better penetration if they are slippery and smooth. This is the wax. http...

That is shoulder width. I think in profile I'm kinda shaped like spongebob, so it looks like my legs are way too far apart, when they are really only a couple of inches too far apart.

This maybe just me, but cats go in chinese food. I live in canada so I don't have many cats to shoot at. But whenever I get something that a girlfriend refuses to eat, I just make chilli, curry, or chinese food. The long low temp cooking for chilli or curry is good because some kinds of small game a...

No worries. I did read that page you are talking about. I just get confused about what "traditional" or "primitive" or what have you. I shoot recurves which seem traditional to me. But then I see some with, stabilizers, sights, rangefinders, clickers, counterweights, lasers, pist...

I'm a bit lost about the avatar rule. Traditional equipement only means what? Just no compounds and x-bows? Or only longbows and recurves?
What about the new high tech longbows and recurves?

Is this one OK?

I think that maybe you guys are overlooking a time honored solution. Ever see Howard Hill with a pack? What they did in the old days, and what we should do is easy: Hire a bunch of natives to carry everything. Water, extra bows, arrows, food, tents, tables, cots, stuff for tea time, everything you s...

Hey, I've been reading the posts here for a while, but have never posted. I'm not sure if what you are describing is similar to what happens to me sometimes. I usually shoot one of two old bear recurves I have. I draw back pretty far normally. Maybe to 30.5 or 31 inchs, and I seem to unconsiously pu...
