Hunting "Mentors" for new bow hunters ?
Hi all, I have never bow hunted but am interested in hunting and fishing in general, I was wondering something regarding being a new Archer. If I was to turn up to a few trad shoots at say Gladstone, and showed I am genuine. What would be the chances of being able to find a hunting "Mentor"...

Re: Instinctive shooting - an instinctive shooter's perspect
To my way of thinking "instinctive" or natural shooting comes down to three things. 1) The ability to shoot and hit (or near hit) a target area without taking eye focus off the target area. (accuracy) 2) The ability to hit targets without aiming with arrow or gap shooting ie. No conscious ...

Re: Instinctive shooting - an instinctive shooter's perspect
Well seems to me theres those that do and those don't get it, a whole lot of semantics "and way too much time on your hands IMO". I seem to shoot ok, I am unable to use point of reference, I am very left eye dominant and the right isnlt much chop, i shoot right handed i can't see the arro...

Re: Bows that qualify for trad shoots and restrictions
I need to check my local outdoors store to see if they sell wooden arrows. Is there anyone who makes wooden arrows to sell to order ? Maybe with identifiers ? I'm keen to make my own but it would take me a long time. Would be nice to have a set of good arrows to begin with. Andrew P.S. Roadie, I'll ...

Re: Water Filters, Chemicals or Sterilights, what do you use
I think we can get a thing called a "life straw" now which I'm sure we have all seen, it's just a filter that works while you drink. I'll be trying to get some so I can drink from any water source almost with minimal effort. The old boil it up method should work if one was stuck/stranded. ...

Re: Bows that qualify for trad shoots and restrictions
Hi Ian, For my 2 bobs worth on the finger pull styles and the nocking points. I know I shoot better with three under and "two" string nocks to make one nocking point , but I persist with one over two under because I think it gives more arrow control/safety, I imagine particularly important...

Re: Bows that qualify for trad shoots and restrictions
Thanks Jeff, I found some rules while looking last night and it would seem to be specifically allowed, and looking at many of the better bows they have a curved shelf and a piece of skin there and on the side. Thank you very much Sue, I will check all that info out, I did find a little last night ab...

Re: The Australian Longbow & Recurve Muster 2014 (7-9June 20
I live only an hour and a half from Gladstone, just south of Rockhampton. I would love to turn up and do some shooting the breeze and arrows, do I need to join a club or can I just turn up and register on the day for shoots like this muster ?

Re: Bows that qualify for trad shoots and restrictions
I'm interested in attending a shoot, not sure if my bow would qualify, even after reading a fair bit of this topic thread. I'm in Central Queensland by the way. Anyway I would have no problem buying the correct bow type and setting it up by the rules and using wooden arrows, but to actually k...
