Re: Gordon Bo-tuff; ULS vs UL

G'day Rob, I only get my glass from John at Ozbow Industries but I've been told he gets it from Binghams originally anyway. I'm not sure if that's true or not. I've actually been doing a few bows with black and white glass and not many with clear lately although I'm just about to start a clear glass...

Re: Gordon Bo-tuff; ULS vs UL

“We believe Gordon’s UL glass is the best in the world for bow building. It is very clear, especially, since we double inspect it for clarity. We also offer “Crystal Clear” glass which is triple checked and certified for nearly, flawless clarity.”[/i] Daryl.[/quote] That's very interesting Daryl abo...

Nice looking bow Perry. Do you know what it's made out of? I also think you need to get on a horse too and then you'll look spot on with it.

Re: How much are people paying for techniglue?

I usually get the 1lt resin and the 500ml hardener techniglu which is around $110 + postage from Carbetec and just hope the courier company doesn't squash the box during transport and end up with glue everywhere.

The Perentie

This is a new bow for my range. The Perentie, named after Australia's largest monitor lizard of the same name. It has an Australian Silky Oak riser with black fibreglass limbs. This particular bow is 45# @ 28". And as you can see, it's a deflex/reflex longbow. I'm quite happy with it and the co...

Re: Medieval target arrows

I believe the trick is to make the taper of the tail shaft long enough so the foot doesn't split when you put the two together. If you clamp a small g-cramp or similar to the hardwood piece just past the centre cut, this will hold the grain from splitting when you put it on the arrow shaft. Ranger

Re: RSPCA want Arrows Tracked in Queensland

G'day Perry, yep I think the RSPCA are in the same category as the Greens nowadays. Just not as dangerous. I think their idea to track arrows that are sold is bordering on the laughable and is embarrassing to think that would get off the ground as legislation. It really shows how much they don't kno...

Re: Newbie.... good bow or waste of money?? HELP!!!

G'day Mattduncan1990, as you're just starting with archery, I would suggest going to an archery club and asking to shoot a couple of different styles of bow. Longbow and recurve and maybe a few other compounds. You might find that you prefer the traditional bow much more. If that's the case, put all...

Re: Bow building glues

I use Techniglue on all my bows. Mainly because I live in a cold climate and Techniglue is fairly runny. Smooth on is fine on warmer days but I've never had any issues with either of the two glues.
