Youth Bow - critique on my design choices?

Hi all, I'm attempting bow number 3 and decided to follow the mass principal. I'm making it for a young niece and so expecting her to grow into it. I would like some comments on my plans as I'd like it to be successful and safe. She is not in Australia so it will need to be a 2 piece take down for p...

Re: How do I fit this point?

Thanks longbowinfected. Your post really helped my gather my thoughts on this. I followed your instructions as best I could with the tools I have on hand. I removed one of my tips. I saw the 5 degree taper as I've seen before. I put my big boy pants on and cut the taper off (no turning back now), th...

How do I fit this point?

I've been curious about the tune of my arrows. I need to get comfortable with fitting and re-fitting field points on the arrows as I try to find the right spine by shortening them. I purchased the arrows pre-made and I've had to re-fit some points that have come off. I noticed that the ends of the a...

Re: Draw length question

I recently measured my draw length on my own. Both very similar to the 'o' ring method. One I used a pipe cleaner from the Mrs craft draws, the other was one of the kids hair ties. The only thing left was to calculate the difference between the back of the bow and the handle pivot point for 'AMO' le...

Re: Where in Victoria can I go stumping?

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your input. I guess I have to look like a hunter to make everything simple for everyone.

The the idea of carrying blunts and having the paperwork as if I'm hunting is a good one, which is probably how I'll go about this.

Thanks again

Where in Victoria can I go stumping?

Hopefully this is a good spot for this... For the life of me, I can't find the a clear answer to this question. Where in Victoria can I go stumping? (legally). All of what I read on government web sites is about bow hunting. (Min of 45# and broad heads for game). Archery Australia / Victoria / ABA h...

Re: Help - Thinking of making a red oak long bow

One thing I didn't mention was that I used the "Tillering Gizmo" in the end. I think it kinda got me there in the end.

Re: Help - Thinking of making a red oak long bow

Ok I have to chime in. In March/April I made a red oak board bow. I used the poorfolkbows site and pretty much followed it word for word until then end. (I added tip reinforcements and some decoration). I'm completely new to archery and my decision to make a bow was a financial one. (My wife thought...

Re: Shooting to the left

Total archery newbe myself. I regularly struggle with this. (although I'm in the 80%'s of right handers and right eye dominant). After a particularly disheartening session a few weeks ago, I tried to research why I hit left at 18m. I found this: http://www.angelfire.com/clone/archery/articles/group....
