Re: Are we fair dinkum???

Over the last few months I've been doing a lot of blank-bale work to improve my form for a couple of reasons: 1) the better my form, the better my accuracy. May not work for you, but it does for me. 2) not far to walk to collect my arrows! x2 Too many people worry about aiming, but it is no good co...

Chrissie Day Rabbits

Got 2 rabbits Christmas day with the Predator recurve and Outback SGB. The one in the pic got about 7 meters front on, he was lying low in the short grass, nearly didn't spot him. (Earlier on before I got the 2) I won't tell you about how after a big Chrissie meal went for a shot in the paddock, dis...

Not too concerned about targets, but the 3Ds are good.

For me all practice is good, and I need all the practice I can get, LOL.

Re: Meditaranian or three fingers under

Definitely 3 under for field and 3D for me. For hunting still mixing it up and swapping between styles and haven't decided. Interestingly I done a test on the range a while ago and shot 2 arrows on the same target, one arrow split, then one 3 under. (Alternating which one was shot first) I scored bo...

Re: String silencers.

Interesting results of the survey for those that voted. I would have thought the cat whiskers would have been more popular, I guess the wool and other natural silencers do a good job, and they do look good.

Get your trad gear out and give it a whirl, for a good cause. (I would say their would be a poundage limit, check with Neil for more details) I will be shooting barebow.

Re: Ballarat Bowhunters Traditional Shoot, January 10th & 11

Our talented chef (Woody, he cooks up a fantastic roast) added: - A couple of things to mention, the rules on trad bows is no sights, bare bow only and on the Friday night there will be a free sausage sizzle. This can be a simple as snags and onions in bread....... or bangers and mashed spuds...... ...

Cat whiskers for me as well, work good and as Clinton mentioned has some good advantages.

Forgot to add, for my field rigs, sometimes won't use any silencers.

Me, probably like the majority of longer targets with some good backstop or natural backstop. The shorter ones, not too fussed.

Re: Marketing differences between trad gear and compounds.

Yeah your right Mick, the marketing and market perception is very different.

Alot of difference, say for example, a 10 year old Black Widow recurve compared to a 10 year old Hoyt compound bow in retaining it's value.

Re: Has this ever been tried?

Interesting idea, I haven't heard about a thin strip along the whole arrow, but have heard of gappers putting a bit of white out or white paint just on the tip of the shaft to help in low light or make it stand out more for hunting conditions. I did try the bit of white out on the tip and although I...
