Just a bump to let people know Mark has released his new two piece takedown longbow to the market. Just click the "longbow" link on the website.

Re: Help with tree identification, possible bow wood.

Greybeard, that is definitley White or Bailey's Oak, Grevillea baileyana. I'm an Arborist for the local council and both plant and cut down many of these each year. They are a popular street tree for local councils in S/E QLD.

The golden underside of the leaf is the clincher.

Don't worry about squashing the fletches, really doesn't matter at all, 1st couple of shots and they will fluff back out.

Why the hell would you email the Department of Primary Industries? Shouldn't you be talking to the Environmental Protection Agency and or Fisheries?

This is such a joke. Has customs looked at the Leatherman range of knives lately? At least 3 models have the "cam" style assisted opening that you action with your thumb. I was handling one in King of Knives last night.

Banana fletch.

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if I can get 5 - 5.5 inch precut banana fletches anywhere? I have tried all the online outlets that I know of without success.

Am I going to have to get a chopper and do my own?

Cheers all, MrRecurve.

Wanted - 30# Recurve.

It's for my wife, it's time for her to upgrade from her 25# Howatt to something a little heavier.

I would be keen for another old Howatt or similar, no metal risers thanks and must right handed please. Will pay up to $200 for the right bow.

Cheers all!

At least you got rid of that heinous metal riser.

Having said that, you've done a great job at copying Widow and Habu with the timber riser! Still not my cup of tea, but looks 100% better than the wharf bow.

This is really not a complicated issue. Here is a direct cut and past from a similar thread quite some time ago. I set my carbons up this way and they come out around 570 - 600 depending on the head I use. Most trad bows recommend a minimum of 8 grains per pound of bow weight, so this is plenty of w...

I use one on my Huntsman and really like it; I had to get it from 3 Rivers at the time, but I believe that there is now a 3 Rivers dealer that is active here on Ozbow, buggered if I can remember who it is tho, I may be mistaken. Anyhow, one of the more active members might be able to help you out.
