Re: ILF hunting riser and limbs for sale
Here are some pics.... The grip on the riser is a mid wrist position grip but I have a low wrist position grip that goes with it too. Also a correction... the W&W limbs are mediums. http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af217/slinkymalinky65/IMG_2395_zpsa7521b0a.jpg http://i1009.photobucket.com/al...

ILF hunting riser and limbs for sale **PICS ADDED**
I'm selling my hunting recurve set up, either as a whole or separately. ALL SOLD Sky Archery TDX17" metal ILF riser $220 + shipping ***SOLD*** One of the ugliest risers I've ever seen in a 'faux woodgrain' finish but fantastic to shoot. Heavy and stable TradTech Black Max Carbon/Wood limbs (lon...

Nice work, Gary!! Looks like no mean feat to stalk in on the pigs in that pretty sparse open country.
Sorry to hear about the bow... Is that the new one you built?? Hopefully see you on Sunday.

That's fine Sue. I don't mind if I just end up shooting for fun but nice to know I'll be accepted somewhere and not left crying quietly in a corner
Once it arrives I'll get in touch and order some new shafts.

Re: Do Penobscot bows qualify in any trad category
The bow I've ordered is another White Wolf (I already have one of Tony Semeneuk's longbows). http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af217/slinkymalinky65/WWM1_zps75de22a1.jpg I just like it because it's so different but I've heard a lot of good things about the forgiving temperament of Penobscot bows t...

Do Penobscot bows qualify in any trad category
I saw some chat on this in the recent long thread about what does and doesn't 'qualify' but would a Penobscot style bow fit in any of the trad categories? I'll be shooting one for fun even if it ends up not being official, but just curious because they look fantastic and I've ordered one based on a ...

Since when is having a more pragmatic point of view, not a valid contribution to a debate? I love my trad bows but I rarely post because it appears that the only welcome contributions are intellectual.
I think the most meaningful contribution to this whole discussion is your signature, Stick Bow!!

Re: Happy Birthday slinkymalinky !!!
Thanks all.
Might seem strange but for my Birthday I've secretly ordered a new longbow... for my wife!! (she's just taken it up and is enjoying herself immensely with a cheap take-down recurve so thought I'd make sure she gets properly addicted).

Ok... So here's a question from someone who hasn't yet taken a decent boar... How is this style of knife used for taking pig jaws? I can strip the flesh back on a jaw ok and then use a saw to take off the jaw well back from the hooks but looking at the desighn and weight of the knife I'm wondering i...

Wallace Woods with intent
Having successfully hunted with a recurve and compound with carbon arrows, I've set myself the goal of hunting with my longbow and woods. Not flash but here are my sticks of choice... some of Steve's shafts with 5" feathers at one end and single bevel Outback Traditions at the other. The shafts...

Re: Thoughts on a Fred Eichler Buffalo
I had a Gamemaster II for quite a while. Equally heavy (nothing much you can do about that but very stable); also very quick (my 50# bow was pushing arrows around 430gn at 192fps); and equally noisy when I got it although I think mine was Black Sabbath rather than AC/DC... BUT ... the noise can be o...

Re: Orange Trad Peg at QLD ABA State Titles
Sue, You bother because you love trad archery and you get a buzz out of seeing other people (like me) get excited about it, go on the trad journey, and enjoy it. Nothing is more of a buzz-kill to me in relation to shooting my trad gear, than people being judgemental about the merits of one kind of s...

Sharing a great tip for when you get the 'yips'
I got a great tip from Bill Watson on the weekend that I'm sure he won't mind me sharing. If you're like me, your brain might sometimes get in the way of shooting well. The more I think when I shoot, the worse I get and on Sunday I shot a paper round... BADLY. After a reasonable start, I missed a co...

Re: NORTH ALBERT TRAD SHOOT 2013
It was a great weekend. My first trad get together and a whole lot of fun. Shot some good stuff and some bad stuff, had a lot of laughs, caught up with a lot of people I've met around the trad traps and met a whole lot of new people. Talked some $^%*, learned some things, saw some beautiful bows, so...

Re: NORTH ALBERT TRAD SHOOT 2013
Was down at the club this afternoon and all is looking good. All the rain has seen a lot of greenery spring back to life... and bring your aerogard for the mornings and evenings... Can't wait to see if I can get some of these wooden sticks heading in approximately the right direction through the wee...

Re: Newbie Arrows?
I think Carbon Impact Ultra Fast target arrows come in 32" even in their lightest spine weights. I haven't used them but I was having a look at them for my kids when I was in Oz Hunting and Bows. Give Chris or Dave a call there and they could probably confirm.
Cheers, Tony

Marksman Quivers - review of my latest toy
I had a parcel arrive for me today from Mark Pitts at Marksman quivers and I just had to show off my latest accessory. I already had a 6-arrow Marksman Quiver set up for my recurve, with a gripper to suit carbon arrows. This one is a 4 arrow set with a larger gripper size to suit woods for my longbo...

Bitzenburger vs Bohning Pro Class fletching jigs
I just upgraded from a Bohning Pro Class fletching jig. I call it an upgrade because after using the Bitzenburger it is light-years in front of the Bohning. But I'm not going to say anything negative about the Bohning jig. Its a very good piece of equipment... simple and, very importantly, inexpensi...

storing flu flus???
Hi all, How do you all store your flu flus? With other arrows, I've got a couple of arrow boxes and tubes that I use to store them but neither is a great option for the big flu flu feathers. Flu flus being flu flus, is there a sensible way to store them so that: a) the feathers don't get crushed and...

I just wanted to give a huge thumbs-up to Wallace Woods. As you might know from some of my other posts, I've been learning the 'ins and outs' of wood arrows. Well, I never did hear anything back from TradTech despite a couple of emails to John Wert. But I am a little disappointed that they weren't interested in hearing about what happened ...

Surewood Shafts
Well, hasn't the wooden arrow thing been a journey so far. Unlike the carbon shafts I've been used to, as I've been navigating my way around the world of woods I've discovered that it's a much more convoluted and tangled place. The spine measuring system is as much art as science (no, a 45-50# shaft...

Hi Hazard, The last photo shows the surface that appears to have delaminated and caused the explosion. In answer to the various comments I'm fine apart from a bruised hand and the need for replacement undies. Yep... amazingly scary. It all happened in a millisecond so I'd hate to think of the potent...

Re: Catastrophic ILF failure - ouch
I've sent a contact to TradTech through their website. I don't expect them to replace it as I bought the riser second hand but I agree... I thought they might like to see the pics and could at least diagnose the problem. You never know, they have a very good reputation and maybe they might do me a g...
