Re: Internature Trophy Hunter

The riser is described as 'hardwood maple veneer' not 'american oak'. It might be good if someone could report back exactly haw the riser looks - is it a multiple laminate like a plywood, or is it a solid block. Most of these Samick and Internature bows in this price range are a very solid, basic an...

Re: armistice day

The National Archives of Australia should have the full set of WW1 service records available online now. Not sure where they are at with the WW2 service records.

There should be a bunch of info in the Anzac Day post I did this year.

What I like about archery....

....is that I can turn my brain off, just go out and shoot, and it clears my mind of whatever else my be going on. I find it very cathartic. You just concentrate on the target, what you are doing, the process, the steps, the phases... look at the target, nock an arrow, hook the fingers, breathe out,...

Re: hunting for a new bow

While I have not shot it in a while, I have an LH Internature 'Viper' longbow in 45#. I draw at about 29.5-30" so I am pulling about 53# (or so we measured). As far as longbows go, this is pretty good. It has a small shelf and a meagre leather grip. I like it, it is far from being any kind of h...

Re: spine testing and shafts, thoughts before breakfast.

I found also that different readings came from any one shaft depending on its orientation, in other words I could turn the shaft and get a different spine.
Forgive my mental block - is the spine measure through the strongest or weakest orientation through the shaft? :?:

That looks wonderful. The contrast between the heart and sapwood is so great that it looks like lamination. And I bet the pictures don't do it justice. Nice work.

Let me know what you think. I just need to make sure I have a spare string to suit - t...

Hi all! I was just wandering how much of a difference there would be in arrow velocity between a 5/16" shaft and an 11/32" shaft of the same weight and spine? And how much of a difference would there be in strength and durability? Thanks, Ben It should be negligible. Given the same weight...

Re: ILF recurves

2nd hand limbs are reasonably easy to come by in places like the Archery Forum - and you should be able to find them in very good condition for around half the list price. They do draw very nicely and smooth and don't stack like some other bows do. Its been a while since I looked at these but there ...

Ouch. Sorry to hear that mate. Ran into a bloke I hadn't seen for a while in another sport - turns out he'd been out of the 'game' because he'd come off a pushbike at a work related event/function and done a rather good job on his right shoulder. He spent 4months off work in a sling.... and that was...

Nice work. There is a lot to be said for 'bomb proofing' technique.
