- you really should try Lefflers, ask them for a sample offcut or two of saddle leather which is 4 to 5mm, or bridle butts 3.5 to 4mm or stirrup butts 4.5 to 5mm or rein backs, harness backs up to 5mm, or you can get what is called 'mens rumps', 5.5mmm which is for footwear. Mick Couldnt be sure, but certainly the suede I bought was thick enough for a handle grip or a lightweight quiver.
