Pretty sure the other main one was on the UK forum Archery Talk... but I can't find the thread now.
I know that Sid from Border Archery had quite a bit of input... but I've lost it, sorry.

Re: Recurve limbs on shorter trad risers
Hi Ian, I shoot a set of medium carbon/foam ILF limbs on a short 17" wooden ILF riser. I read a pretty good summary about this on a yank forum and the general rule of thumb is to ensure that the limb length matches your draw length so as not to overstress the limbs. ie. only use shorts if your ...

Re: Any help identifying this?
Thanks for all the replies
It didn't even dawn on me that it could be an old compound riser... which is funny as I'm from the era of wooden compounds!!!
Perry... My thought was exactly that it could be an ilf warf project if all else fails.
Cheers & thanks,
Paul

Any help identifying this?
Hi All, I haven't been here for a while... busy playing with an ILF recurve instead of my trad gear. My brother rescued this old girl from the tip and I told him to send me a pic to see if I could identify it, but have to admit, it's got me stuffed, especially the limb alignment system. Can anyone h...

Re: ILF bows?
Mick, I recalled reading an old thread on the archery interchange forum about fitting Border limbs to short risers... thought you may be interested so found the link here http://www.archeryinterchange.com/f127/ilf-riser-our-limbs-79837/ Also, here is a link to recommendations by Border in regard to ...

Re: Who consciously uses back tension to improve their accur
Mick, For target (field) shooting I find if I'm not shooting well then consciously going through the mantra of draw... anchor... lock ( lock the back muscles) as I'm shooting returns my form. Aiming is then something I don't actually think about in the shot process. Whereas thinking about aiming is ...

Re: ILF bows?
Mick, Barebow recurve is pretty big in the european countries... the barebow risers are specifically made to be shot without stabilisers and are not only more bottom heavy, but have in built areas for additional weights to be added to the riser. I recall reading somewhere that the ratio of recurve :...

Re: ILF bows?
Mick, It's funny what can attract you to a particular bow. What prompted me to look at ILF was the fact that I'm keen to try IFAA and as I shoot 3 under I'd be shooting my longbow in recurve division ( longbows can only be shot with a split release). So I started thinking I may as well be shooting t...

Re: ILF bows?
Hi Mick, I tend to mainly lurk here but saw your post and thought I'd chime in with a few comments... I was in the market for a new longbow and after being stuffed around on a purchase decided to go the almost polar opposite and bought an ILF recurve. I was checking out some European websites and th...

Re: When did 3 fingers under become popular in Australia?
I started shooting ABA in the early 80's and was introduced to three under pretty much straight away. It being suggested to me as an option when I was having pinch issues with a short recurve. Tried 3 under and havent shot split since... ABA allow 3 under except in Longbow division. (allowed in mode...

Re: Distinction between Modern & Traditional Longbow in Trad
In the words of Johnny Cash... "How do you do?.... My name is Sue!".... Err, no its not. But I did have the hissy fit. I was just pointing out that the difference between "modern" and "traditional" longbow divisions in ABA can also be as simple as choosing to shoot 3 un...

Re: Distinction between Modern & Traditional Longbow in Trad
It is a personal gripe of mine in regard to competitive field archery, that I shoot a straight limbed longbow with wooden arrows but because I shoot 3 under, I'm in either "Modern Longbow" in ABA or "Bowhunter recurve" in IFAA type competitions. Dont get me wrong, I understand th...

Re: joining clubs and organisations.
Morgan, Some ABA clubs will require you to do an introductory course... Kind of like an OH&S safety induction and to make sure you are competent with the bow before letting you loose on the field course. From memory, at the ABA club I'm in, its a couple of hours on the morning of a shoot and it'...

Re: Viper Delux Longbow
Tom, I had a Internature Viper and was quite happy with it. Improves greatly with the addition of a fastlfite string. I also shot with a young bloke at the HVTA Gathering this year who had just bought a Ragim Wolf off John and i have to admit, I was really quite impressed with the bow for the money....

I can't say I am overly surprised about the government taking this step. I never liked the way the GC was set up. The Victorian system is a much better one IMO and has worked very well for many many years. Jeff Jeff, I don't think anyone, even the guys that set up the Game Council would disagree wi...

Re: Falco Longbows
I've done some research on Falco as well as their bows seem pretty good value. They do seem to have a pretty good reputation in the European Trad scene and it looks like a few pretty good archers use their bows... particularly their reverse handle longbow, the Force Carbon. I'm currently seriously t...

Re: How long do you hold at full draw?
May I suggest that people measure how long they actually hold at full draw rather than taking a guess. You may be suprised what it actually is. Archers who shoot self bows and hold their bows at full draw for more than a few seconds are not doing their bows any favours. Speaking for myself if I sta...

Hi All, I haven't been on here for a while... Shoulder issues have made shooting a bit unpleasant. Anyway, I bought a cheapy longbow of about 30lb to try rehab the shoulder. Rehab bow
Hi all, I'm returning to archery after some shoulder and elbow issues. I dont want to put too much stress on the body after the injury and a long break (nearly 10 months without drawing a bow). I'm thinking a short term bow that will help build strength and provide some degree of rehab before tackli...
