Re: Forging a railway spike knife. (How to)
Rod, I'm just experimenting matey.. all I know is they are sharp, hacking away at wood doesnt seem to hurt them at all... but I'd think that the steel in a file would be a lot better. Kim and others would know better than me.

I'm going to make another one tomorrow and I will take some photos of the forging process. It's great fun. Buildin...

My afternoons forging.
This is a bit ordinary after Kim's one but he's been giving me advice so here's what I did this arvo. Made a forge out of a tyre rim and a brake drum + a bit of steel pipe hammered flat at one end for a blowpipe and a $10 airbed inflater as a blower. You can see the railway spike I'm going to use in...

Re: Young Billies as Eaters ????
I suppose what I am getting at , is the Justification that some hunters feel they have to provide to others in saying that they took them for meat , when really , they would taste like crap . I suppose it comes down to the world we live in , where we have to justify everything  Saying, "...

Axe's suggestion it's actually one of his cases.. lol... The washer goes on and then the case with a dab of 5 min epoxy and they work a treat. Very easy if you can get some used brass matey.giaCAMO FLAGEioli wrote:A nice lil' afternoon stroll !!

I only shoot broadheads with self nocks. I don't shoot multiple arrows at a target very often but the toughest self nocks I've discovered are the ones Hubris makes with an iron-hard slice of redgum inserted. I was going to try turning some solid redgum ones but time has eluded me lately. Have any of...

An interesting read Mick. I have hunted some shocking steep thick country with both of my backquivers and they have both worked well. I have adjustable straps on both of them so I can cinch them in real tight to my back for climbing etc and then loosen them off for swinging them underarm ala stickbo...

Matey.... a good solution I've found is to add an inner bag. I have one made from the same materials as thermals are made from. Only weighs about 200gms and cost about 90 bucks. Makes a HUGE difference in the winter and I often use just this 'sock' as a bag in the summer. You can get them at most go...

Hugh... one of my pet peeves is the way hunters who use one particular method bag out others who use a perfectly legal method to take their game. Bowhunters slagging off pig doggers to be exact. Once the greenies get pig dogging banned, next on their list will be bowhunting for it's supposed 'cruelt...
