Re: new ABA rules on aluminium arrows?

I was reading through the ABA rules posted and it states that Traditional division must be shot using the ‘Mediterranean’ loose . I see plenty of people getting all geared up to shoot trad but then go and shoot three fingers under. Which puts them straight into "Modern Longbow". I've expl...

Dennis,
All good.

And I agree re ' longbow' ruling in some tourneys ... Many are far removed from the 'longbow' as I know it.

Re: Distinction between Modern & Traditional Longbow in Trad

Dennis, Thanks for the response. I quoted "ancient forms of archery" from the your last sentence in your previous post. ..... "Ozbow believes that those most ancient forms of archery are worth preserving and are best conserved by the preservation of its peculiar language and a sound k...

Dennis, not meaning this to be pendantic in any way , but I am not sure if there is difference between the form and function in what you are putting forward ..... If , as you describe the intention is the preservation of "ancient forms of archery" so similar (apols on IPAD and quoting is h...

Re: Being Competitive with instinctive shooting method?

Didn't mean to infer that either are mutually inclusive. When shooting 3 under I try to Gap but struggle and do much better with unconscious aiming .

But 3under does seem to lend itself to Gap shooting at close ranges .

Re: Being Competitive with instinctive shooting method?

A brief perusal of any of the IBO events overseas , or 3d shoots in Europe will show those with a dedicated aiming system wins the day . I think every podium finisher in the USA is a mad keen hunter . And on the whole they shoot 3 Under . When you get to Field and the distances increase it's a diffe...

Re: How Do You Grip Your Bows?

Hi. I like Rod Jenkins school of thought ..... The danger with that approach is that you get a singular viewpoint. IMHO People tend to not not read/look at enough information to observe the trends that come through and they jump to conclusions rapidly without considering why something is said. Jenk...

Re: Mike Palmer

I am pretty sure I know that bow, was made for Phill Stubbington?
It'll kill a pig with an arrow in the right spot... I'd just get my b'heads nice and sharp and put them on a 500gn arrow and go pig hunting .
Shot placement will trump the other stuff if the b'head is sharp

Jimmy's a good dude, takes bunch of game regularly, is a world champ and can shoot with the best whether its with his self bows or running his 70" stringwalking rigs. I spent a few weeks with his coach, Rod Jenkins a few years back ... You should see these lads on moving targets ....... Wowsers...
