we live in a very snakey area too.
have you ever looked into the "snake sentinels" - solar powered snake repeller?

Very nice pics there, have been trying to get close to some raptors down my way with mixed success. The shot of the WBSE is especially nice to me, I used to surf under these guys watchful eyes. A king brown got stuck in my fence with a similar cause a while back, the sound of a frog getting got by a snake is a pretty distinctive sound at night

I use a dehydrator, even though I live in a more dryer area than most :) I maranade the meat, usually kangaroo, over night and then leave it in the dehydrator the next day and package it and then freeze it into appropriately sized packages.
