Re: Hill style longbow info required.

That's just it...everything barring the length, core thickness being equal, how can a bow with the longer working limbs be slower and yet have very good cast compared to a similar but shorter bow? Your detailed e-mail isn't confusing in the least and I would suggest you copy and paste it here as it ...

Re: Hill style longbow info required.

Thanks once again. What is your brace height? I am wondering if the 2" of reflex and a low brace height are factors that make your bows faster than the competition. The bow would most certainly be less stable to shoot then a longer bow as well IMO. That is precisely what I am afraid of even tho...

Re: Hill style longbow info required.

G'day Jeff and thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that the bow will have a bit of reflex. 3/4" at the very most. How much reflex do you build into your personal bows? The original plan was for a 68" long bow with an unspecified riser length. Recently the bowyer suggested a 64&qu...

Hill style longbow info required.

1) What is the optimum working limb length for a Hill style / American semi-long bow? Draw weight is 65# @ 28", with the bow being tillered for a 27.5" draw. 2) Assuming all of the above, what should the riser length be for a straight grip for a hand that wears a size L glove? 3) What are ...

Joe Furlong makes 225 and 300 gr. brass field points. They are expensive but the quality is excellent.

longbow grips - straight, dished and locator.

I have only had experience of locator grips on longbows but am drawn to the straight grip and curious about the dished grip. I haven't had the opportunity to try the straight and dished grips and would like to have inputs (pros and cons) on all three type of grips from those in the know. Also, what ...

Re: Is it safe to use a wooden arrow if....

Does this mean the wood arras are flying well? They are but this isn't what you are thinking off. The target is an aiming mark drawn on a cardboard box, the size of a shoe box, stuffed with newspapers and kept in front of a hay and jute backstop. When hit it moves, so the next arrow hits the box at...

Herewith pics of two arrows that have had glancing blows to their shafts. The shiny stuff is the first layer of Areldite I had applied before turning in last night. Please let me know what you think. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a6/RHB65/Archery/DSCN6294.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a6/R...

Is it safe to use a wooden arrow if....

....another arrow has glanced past it and compressed the wood or removed a small chip? Would filling the dented portion with layers of Areldite save the arrow?

Thanks.

There was a time, not too long ago, when I thought you were just being stubborn about your ruddy wooden arras but I was wrong. Thanks guys.

Did the cresting with some permanent markers I had at hand.

Have only managed to shoot out to 15 yards but I am getting increasingly fond of wooden arrows.
