Re: use of aluminium and carbon arrows at trad shoots

Perry, time poor archers wasn't the motivation for the rule changes, making trad more beginner friendly was. Nothing puts a beginning trad shooter off more than heading out with a dozen shiny new woods and coming back with matchwood (and before you say move em closer we did and they got worse) alloy...

Re: use of aluminium and carbon arrows at trad shoots

how novel, a woods vs alloy debate, takes me back a few years when 3DAAA saw the sense to allow alloys and carbons in the longbow division, which was consequently followed by howls of protest by wood supporters claiming it would destroy the game (and didn't I cop it with some rather personal inflect...

Re: Want to learn to make wooden arrows

Trad Bits on the Sunshine Coast or JCM in Sydney can provide you with what you need and there are a ton of utube clips on arrowmaking.
List would include:
shafts
tapertool
feathers
nocks
points
sealer like truoil
glue
fletching jig

Re: Beginner concerns

It wont take long to get used to those weights, you could always order lighter limbs for the predator (which may make a nice upgrade for the wife) your wife could get used to the draw weight with a cheap target recurve (<$200) Therabands make good muscle development tools and are easily carried. Re: Transitioning from target to hunting bow.

Byron Ferguson's 'split vision' method is practical and quick to apply, here you focus on where you want to hit and become aware peripherally of the gap of the arrow tip to the target.
