For those with too much time on their hands.
Maybe make a laminated arrow with pale outer lams and a very thin centre lam?
Anyone with a rough idea on spine calculations for this?

Re: Removing arrows from trees???
I'm open about hitting the odd trunk, branch, whatever whilst out on the field course. I carry a decent lock blade folder and a multitool for the occasion. However, since I switched to wood shafting, they seem to just require some reassembly after the fact. Reminds me, I need to make a few foo...

Fantastic bow. We are having a similar pre-purchase discussion in our household at present. Finances are average, but Mum is not real keen on loosening the purse strings to the level the young bloke and myself require to fund the new gear. Oh well, at least the locks haven't been changed while I'm n...

Shame about the arrow mate. Another option for a target is a box or chaff back or such stuffed with rags. I use a cardboard box well stuffed with old clothes etc (remove any zips/buttons) and wrap in duct tape to stop the box getting too soggy. Seems to stop even broad heads from a #50 recurve reaso...

Great stuff Memo! My young bloke is hanging out for this weekend as the club is open for regular shoots again. Thanks Memo, I have had a look at his website and he makes some sweet little bows. I will drop him a line and see what the go is. Cheers Troy Troy, a pm with any info would be great, the bo...

I was about to ask if it was due to younger birds being harvested, then I read this.Stickbow Hunter wrote:Yeah John. I've seen mention it has to do with how they mostly raise the turkeys now days.
Jeff
Are there any other sources for natural feathers? Or is the commercially available stuff restricted to turkey?

I'm in for 1 adult shirt, 1 child shirt, 2 Stubbie holders. Pref polo style shirt but I'll go with the general consensus.
And I have been informed that xxxxl is actually SM. (small marquee)
Also, if paid site memberships are available, im in for that too!

Now some may call me a S*** stirrer, but around here, I'm the one telling the young and impressionable the "correct" names of things. Truth is highly flexible, skellingtons is too a real word, and eleventy seven is my favourite number. My kids think I'm strange....... I know they are right.

I am not anti-cat, but it grates on me when I have to register my dog, and confine her to my property, yet my neighbours can have multiple unlicenced cats that roam free, happily munching on the local fauna and running amok. I have given the Father/Mother-in-Law a hand to make a huge cat run at thei...

I am impressed!
Also, I would suggest that it is archery related, in a varied target sense, like a running pig, but harder on arrows

Thanks Jeff, I imagine it would be better for the target to ride up over the ferrule, rather than risk snagging on the shaft.
Maybe even breaking or lifting a splinter.

Righto, I just found out Imadoofus....... again! ( Some may say still )
As it turns out, the glue on Spirits appear to be 100grn (no adapter) and a 5/16" ferrule.
Guess its time for some new broadheads, just dont tell the wife

Shaft size and glue on broadheads
Hi Folks. I have recently switched over to wood shafted arrows from trad painted carbons. I have some Tusker Spirit screw on broadheads that were for the carbons, but I have pulled the insert out in an attempt to check the fit on my 11/32 arrow shafts. The shafts are spined to my bow weight, and see...

Re: Yarn puff silencers
Just watched that YT vid, reminds me of primary school making pom poms.
Seems like a lot of work for our purpose. I just poke 50mm lengths of straight cordage through the unbraced string, when braced they are held tight and a few shots sees them puff right up no worries.

Daniel, maybe they had issues with the diy aspect? I know a lot of the us sites get major funds from their advertisers, maybe one off them has issues? On another note, I'm trialling braided nylon draw cord on my recurve. Puffs up well, can't give you any lifespans yet as I'm STILL laid up with back ...

I personally found the books an ok read, but refuse to watch the fillums as I have had too many good stories ruined by crap movie adaptations.
But I guess if it can encourage the youngsters to come out and play it has some small value in the larger scheme of things.

I'm in the process of getting the bits together for my first set of woods and with a draw about 31" the trick is making sure the shafts will be long enough uncut!
