I wonder if a bush walker would rather walk past a bowhunter or a pack of hungry feral dogs.

Re: What do we think (and play nicely)

Having said that I think the proposed regs are a silly idea largely because of how these things will be used to give hunters a whuppin on the first occasion that a minor who has been granted permission and all the rest of it suffers a mishap. So when I am out hunting with my 16 year old son who has...

Re: What do we think (and play nicely)

Probably better off reading the actual proposed amendment and commenting on what it says. 14 Special provisions for licences authorising minors to hunt unsupervised (1) The Game Council must not grant a game hunting licence that authorises a minor to hunt for game animals without the close personal ...

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...

That isn't the point though when we are dealing with the rabid animal liberationists. They see the problem with us as US and are just against humans interacting with animals. It is not about the quantum of suffering via different ends to their lives, it is about humans living in some fantasy world ...

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...

I once suggested that that the Australian hunting orgs get together and fund a scientific paper on how the animals we hunt die naturally in nature. Having a detailed timeline of the animals death to show how slow and painfully most animals we hunt die naturally could not be a bad thing. Being able t...

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...

I over the years have done some work with the RSPCA and there are no doubt some fantastic people that work there. Unfortunately like with everything some people take a very one sided view of matters. I could say more but best not for a forum. Good people help the RSPCA without ever knowing their ag...

Re: RSPCA article on hunting...

Dennis Well said. Education is the key, the general population will believe what they are told as truth, and the problem is all they hear is the AL version of the truth and nothing else. I had a WIRES lady write to the local paper complaining that our club was shooting 3D animals and somehow this wa...

When I was young I was leaving a weekend market in Luton and it had just started to pour rain. I had my head down because of the rain and mud picking my way along the track, I was following a bloke in a English version of a dry-as-a-bone, and he must have been putting his days taking in the inside p...

Re: M. Naden has been caught near Gloucester

The good news is the families may start to get closure and lot of families living in the area can start to relax. For me it means I can start using a couple of huts again that the police had rigged up with sensors. With all the media attention on criminal gun use I found it amusing the way the media...

Bow Making Supplies

If anyone can help it would be great. Re: Importing throwing knives and tomahawks

We needed some axes in a rush for a club shoot so I designed some on AutoCad on Thursday night and emailed the drawing to a mate who used a water jet to cut them out of 6mm stainless steel. he did this for us Friday lunchtime and then we ground them up Friday arvo just in time. I got the basic shape...

I know its boring but I use a $15 filleting knife I got from some bargain bin in an outdoors shop. I also carry a small file and a diamond stone/steel. It is easy to sharpen, does everything I have asked of it in the bush and if I loose it I can just buy another. My base trade would be a mechanic an...

Alex I suspect you could never understand me  . I hunt because I am a hunter, plain and simple. I do not hunt for meat, pest control or trophies or any of the other reasons, it is simply who I am. I ensure I hunt legally whenever I hunt and obey my own code of ethics of a quick clean kill. Do...

In the quote below do you mean the boar is cleaning the environment of carcasses left behind by other hunters?
and let the boar alone to keep cleaning the environment of the carcass that other hunters leave behind.

Just so you know, most of the emails you get warning of something like this and to let everyone know the issue are normally just spam or a hoax. A quick search on Google lets you know which are real and which are fake. In this case it is a Hoax. http://www.hoax-slayer.com/simon25-hacker-hoax.shtml h...
