Re: Bow wood in WA

Djarilmari won't be much help for selfbow wood. He cuts for the craft furniture and craft wood industry, so has a great selection of highly figured timbers and burls, but nothing straight grained and (and for lack of a better word) boring. I've been there twice and spent hours just walking through t...

Re: Great week away, big billy Flatlined!

Thanks again guys!

These pics didn't even show the whole arsenal, it was almost comical how many bows and arrows went along! That said, all the bows pictured needed to be blooded, which we succeeded in doing, which was pretty cool.

Re: Great week away, big billy Flatlined!

After dealing with the goats from the previous night, we decided to run into town to get some salt as we wanted the skins. So we headed out mid-morning, driving the 100kms in no time. With 3 big bags of salt secured and a few goodies from the shop, we headed back. On the way back we saw a dog cross ...

Clint being the funny man he is, then whispers to me, "Mate, he's up!", I say, "What the @#$%, are you kidding?", I spin around looking and he say's "Naw, just messing with you." "You're a w@#$%^r!". He was down for good. Now it was Clint's turn and he made go...

Re: Great week away, big billy Flatlined!

That night, the rain came in and it got quite cool. We woke up to a damp, cool morning and got right back out there. As the goats were hanging around the dam at night, we went back there to catch them moving out. A couple gave Clinton a shot, but the shot didn't feel right so he held tight, waiting ...

Great week away, big billy Flatlined!

Just got back from a week of chasing goats here in the breakaway country of WA with my mate Clinton (Clinglish). We were originally scheduled to fly up north to hunt camels and that trip went pear shaped, so we had to come up with a backup plan. It all came together and we had a fantastic week of st...

Re: what happened to my Billy Goat?

Sounds like you hit that space just under the spine and above the lungs. It's also possible you hit too far back and no fluid made it out, sometimes long hair or fat can block the entry/exit hole/s. If the arrow passed through, it won't be too far from where the billy was standing, try to find it an...

Contact Rob Nichol of Flatline Bows, he scored a piece of purple gidgee and used it in my and a couple other of his bows. It definitely has a purple hue to it and Rob told me it should continue turning purple as it ages.

It won't be long before the anti's get a total ban on hunting and fishing because they know it's easier to get it banned then to have it regulated. A well thought out response to this article, based in fact not on emotion, is sorely needed. And Mick, posting pictures like that is cruel, now I'm flip...

Lost an Ozbow member

I'm hesitant to post this but feel like I need to speak up. It appears that Luke aka wayoutwest has cancelled his Ozbow account. I'm guessing it was in response to the criticism he received on his video posted in the Hunting and Fishing section where he was hunting over a water hole in Africa. Some ...

Dan-I'm not following your description of your draw length. You said you're drawing 29" but your arrows are 27.5 boh, so are your arrows barely sitting on the shelf? I'd check your draw length again to make sure we're all on the same page. The easiest way to do it by yourself is to nock an arro...

Headed to Darwin for Easter

I'm going to be up in Darwin next week and was wondering if anyone up there would like a partner for a pig hunt. I'd be available thursday, friday, or saturday, I'll pay the fuel bill and buy you lunch or dinner. Shoot me a PM if interested. Cheers!

Rob-No, haven't gotten anything with her yet, but been out a couple times. Hopefully I make it up to Darwin in April to chase pigs, that would be a proper way to blood AD! The first time I saw lacy she oak my jaw dropped, it was the most amazing piece of wood I'd ever seen. Right then and there I de...

Any one? How 'bout $75 (as low as I can go). Trades considered: full length left wing feathers, Gold Tip 35-55 shafts, Blackstump or Snuffer broadheads, or a combination of stuff/cash. Let me know what you've got.
