It took around 7 days..not bad.
they come with either 18650 or 123a lithiums and can take either..I chose the 18650 because of the more grunt..but ill carry a handfull of disposable 123A's in my pack when away

I grabbed a couple of UltraFire WF-501B torches directly from China via ebay...2 torches each with a rifle mounting bracket..two switches(one bush button end cap and another end cap with a tactical pressure swith on a lead)a lithium charger and two 18650 3.7v 3000Mah batteries(it takes one...

No dramas Tom...Im tinkering on something similar..but it will only have a parrallel bore for a non tapered shaft...similar to the screw in outsert but with a taper

Great info Ben...I think off memory its around 2 1/2" brass rod(1/8")for 60gns..the extra long drill bit would be very handy with this setup. Any idea how much of the jig was dedicated to guiding the drill bit?? Sparra has sent me a couple of alloy outserts to peruse..The biggest hassle is...

how about 70mm long..with 20mm for the bit and 50mm for the shaft..thats the taper and 25mm contact area??..ill knock one up

If you think 30mm isnt enough(how long is the taper?)..Ill make one at 40mm(60mm overall)and send that instead..

Hi Rob, have you done an 11/32 jig? I will give it a go, happy to purchase it seeing as though I have instigated the manufacture. One other thought I had over the weekend was being able to use it on a shaft that is already tapered for the point, this may mean you would need a bit more length on the...

Ive had some requests to knock up a jig to accurately drill the front of 5/16"timber shafts so weight in the form of 1/8" rod can be added. Here is the first prototype on its way for testing...Note the carbon shaft in the pic(sorry)..thats why Im getting one of you woodies to test it...lol...

The "old way" would have been Meryla Pass I pressume..Its been gated and is closed to public access,with a $3K fine from the water board if your caught,as my mate found out when he hiked it last year...lol.It was the old road between the Valley and Highlands till around the war...Nice coun...

I used to stay with an old aunty in Kangaroo Valley.Used to traipse /trudge around the area years ago. Looks a bit like Morton National Park and around the Kangaroo River. Even if wrong very pretty. Kevin No..Its not in the "Valley"...I spend a lot of time down that way ..One of my mates ...

Ill investigate the rod..but yes Ill supply weight matched brass rods...Maybe tungsten TIG electrodes may fit..They will be very heavy for length,but maybe a tad pricey

I just checked out a jig like you described..Its just a 50mm x 19mm dia (roughly) piece of SS bar..one end turned to fit a shaft snugly in about 25mm and the other to accept a small drill bit the other 25mm...slip it on the shaft and use a hand drill to drill out a core large enough for brass brazin...

Theres a shale oil mine from the early 1800's only a few miles away as the Crow flies...maybe they worked there..although there is a historic settlement near the mines. My family settled this area in the early 1800's...But ive never heard anything about this particular area...Most of the older names...

A few of us have been clambering around like Mountain Goats..Trying to catch up with the resident Goats and Fallow in a nearby Gorge..
