Re: What A Month

Thanks for the kind words all. sorry but you've used up all your good luck for next month, (maybe quite a bit longer than that!) on getting cheap access to the banteng Clinton, maybe I can buy some luck back by "sharing the love"(I need some more yet as we are planning Central Arnhem Land ...

What A Month

Well the wife and I have just had one of the best month’s bow hunting imaginable. The start of the month saw us arrive at Toomba Station to have a go at some of the pigs and chital that makes this place famous (and rightly so). If you have ever considered doing a paid hunt, this is the place. The am...

Re: Draw weight and draw length?

Quite a collection of bows to tell the truth. I mostly play with a Gringa 65@ 28, and the Norseman 60# @ 28. Both Howard Hill style bows. 31 inch draw. ( there's 9 other longbows if I feel like a change   )

Re: Arrow Making

The only tools you need are a hand plane, sand paper, and a drill speeds up the process. I start with an 11 mm square timber blank ( mainly oregan), plane the 4 edges, then plane the 8 edges your left with. Stick the shaft in your drill, and spin it through your sand paper. A word of advice, heat ca...

Re: Gladstone 3d (pic heavy)

Thanks for posting the pics Nutgrass. As always, Karen (Rabbits) and I had a ball knocking around with the Bundy crew. Sadly, that will be the last Gringa adventure for us till we can talk you guys into coming up to visit us in Darwin. I'm sure the NT wouldn't mind some upstanding gentlemen such as ...

Dennis Careful about the backyard practice thing. Very few of us DON'T do it and statistically insignificant few of us bring any harm to others from it. I didn't mention it, I do practice in the back yard myself. Like you, I also am very aware of the potential of a bow and arrow and take the necessa...

2nd archery incident in as many months

Granted it was a wheelie bow, but bad news for archers all. I would imagine it won't take a whole lot more to make licensing and regulation a reality.

NT Adventure 1 of 2(take 2 )

Bent Stick, my hubby John Valery and I have just got back from our road trip to the Northern Territory. What a trip of firsts for me. In the weeks hunting and fishing, I managed my first Barra, and first pigs. The boys didn’t do too badly either. We checked out a couple of new hunting properties tha...

Yeah Gidget, gotta watch the cattle. Gringa has gone international and managed a second place and I'm having a ball with the big girl  . The "Minister of war and finance" took out first place in her division so I can't crow to loud. Maybe the "no rabbits" thing did help. I...

Norfolk Island 2011

Well the Mrs and I made it back from the 9th annual “Open Field Archery Championships” on Norfolk Island on Sunday. For anyone that hasn’t been to a shoot on Norfolk, you’re missing probably the best laid out 3D shoot we’ve ever been to. Granted it’s not a ââ...

Re: The Australian Logbow & Recurve Muster, Gladstone

Certainly getting close now guys and girls. Pre-nominations have just ticked over the 100 mark, so if we get the normal few nominating on the day, it should turn into a pretty fair shoot. Everything at the club is all set to go, the new renovations have come up a treat, we just need a few bodies to ...

muntries, I like to pull through my release, and all though it works very well when it's all going well, for me, it requires lots of practice. Daryl, we're more a fun shoot so we try not to critique the bows too much. A recurves a recurve, a longbows a longbow, and a self bows a self bow, simple as that. As to the draw weight, you can tell people its 60#, and I'll hide the bow scales mate.  No problem..................
