When using overseas timbers such as POC and spruce you will always get the rifts of the grain pointing down one way on the top and the other on the bottom. I have always found the same as well. I have a mild D/R longbow-flatbow design I make and there is a nocitable differance in string tension with same poundage bows when compared to my more highly D/R limb design model. The mild design will not shoot the heavier grains per pound arrows as well either...
